Seriously every time we've gone here, we see sea turtles :! Do NOT disrupt them, but Do watch in awe from a distance :D

Hike descending down through an epic and lush rainforest or just drive around the top edge, to see into the huge and arrid, beautiful crater; steam vents rise out of the earth all around you :!
About 1-1.5 hours each way. It was life altering and we take frends here often~!
Don't forget to make reservations for dinner afterward at the TASTIEST Volcano House Inn Restaurant. :]

Hike descending down through an epic and lush rainforest or just drive around the top edge, to see into the huge and arrid, beautiful crater; steam vents rise out of the earth all around you :!

Don't forget to make reservations for dinner afterward at the TASTIEST Volcano House Inn Restaurant. :]
The most stunning and seemingly fake view of the stars we've ever seen ~! There were so many visible constellations we could barely differentiate them.
Start around 3/4pm, to arrive to the summit [ or just to the visitors cetner if you can be sensitive to altitude - the Summit is 14,000 Feet from sea level - the Visitor's Center is 9000. ] - arrive just in time for Sunset.
Then watch the guided lecture pointing out every star in the sky, including on a very clear night, visible moving satellites. Breathtaking :D

Also hosting performances from a few dance company, Kahilu Theatre has many exhibitions per year with an awesome and beautiful space ~! A great day trip - and don't forget to stop into one of the many VERY tasty restaurants in Waimea [ The Fish and the Hog, Merriman's, Kona Brewhouse, to name a few favorites ] .

Also don't forget to visit 'Akaka Falls or also Rainbow Falls n Hilo, and eat from their farmer's market or one of the tasty restaurants [ Pineapples is a good one for lunch ] :]
