One of our absolute favorite Seattle Parks. Has a large play area for kids and a sprawling sandy beach along the Puget Sound. The Olympic Mountains are usually in view along with beach volleyball and sailboat races. On a nice night, the fire pits are popular spots.

The Ballard Locks are a very cool spot to see the US Corps of Engineers "boat elevator". The Locks are super old and provide passageway for boats between Lake Washington and the Puget Sound. The Locks have a large park with multiple gardens and walking paths too.

We love, love, love the WA state ferries. You can go for a day trip to Bainbridge Island to have lunch or to Vashon Island. Other ferries launch from other locations and head to many of the other islands and over to the Peninsula. Well worth the effort and quintessential Seattle.

A large Safeway grocery store. At the corner of 15th and Market in downtown Ballard one mile from our house. Ample parking if you drive there. Walking and the bus are also both possible depending on your preference.
