A great and affordable French restaurant--definitely worth the trek to Brooklyn. Particularly good in winter months--they have a wood burning stove in the back with couches--great for drinks.

A temple to bacon and all other things banned by Jewish dietary law. It's a very trendy spot in Brooklyn and has pretty tasty bacon donuts (it's a weird combination but somehow it works).

A yummy dumpling bar about a block away from the apartment. The dumplings are pretty cheap and the curry sauce is quite tasty--who could want more?

Right across the street and despite the cold, it's worth checking out. The Monday Sunday is our favorite but all the flavors are quite tasty.

The other desert place right across the street. They sell simply but tasty cupcakes. The banana with cream cheese is awesome. On Wednesdays they have a buy one get one deal for students (with ID).

I love a good cup of coffee and blue bottle does not disappoint. Most phenomenal coffee in the city. They also have locations on 15th street, in Chelsea, and near grand central station.

A quirky little bar reminiscent of a speakeasy with fantastic cocktails. It's tucked away in a japanese shop on 9th street. Best to go early if you want a seat, it get's packed.

A fun little bar on our block. Very sweet drinks with lots of cheeses and other "french" things. The champagne cocktails are pretty tasty.
