Authentic German food that people flock to from miles away, and locally too! Call for a reservation - but if its last minute just head down there early. It fills up as people leave the mountain area.
We find 4:45 p.m. isn't too early!
Top shelf German cuisine. Grab a drink and dinner at the bar or if you have a larger group you can get a table. Get there early for a table as they fill up quickly. Food and service are excellent. They are closed on Mondays.

New Paltz is a historic town as well as a college town. It has cute shops and a variety of excellent restaurants - from pubs to farm to table dining - as well as access to the Rail Trail and Wallkill River, where you can ride bikes and kyak.

Open for breakfast and lunch in Gardiner, NY - this farm to table cafe' restaurant is one of my personal faves.

Parks & Nature
Awosting Falls is a must see during your stay. It's a gorgeous waterfall walking distance from our place. The trails are walking, bike and jogger stroller friendly.
Take a left out of the driveway and left on to the trail head down the street.
You can leave you car in our driveway and walk or bike to the trail system from here! There is a beautiful waterfall within walking distance and many miles of trails to hike or bike on. The climbing in this area is some of the best in the Northeast. Very desirable for all level climbers.

There is a beautiful waterfall within walking distance and many miles of trails to hike or bike on. The climbing in this area is some of the best in the Northeast. Very desirable for all level climbers.

Having your own car is the best way to enjoy this area, since we are really removed from everything.
But if you have a friend who needs to come up or get back to NYC - separate from your crew - they can always hop on a bus and it will drop them right into downtown New Paltz next to the Taxi stand. Taxi is $20 last time we used them.
