This substantial building was erected in 1551 by Rustem Pasha, Grand Vizier of Suleyman the Magnificent. It was used for selling the silk that Rustem Pasha himself produced in Bursa. The gallery of the bezistan houses exhibits from the Ottoman period (including the most expensive equipment of an Ottoman warrior) and the Austro-Hungarian period.

The Museum’s collections are housed and displayed in its depots and dependencies, where they tell the story of Sarajevo’s past, from the prehistoric settlements at Butmir through the Illyrian and Roman settlements to mediaeval Bosnia, the Ottoman period, the Austro-Hungarian period and modern times.
The War Childhood Museum is open in Sarajevo, at Logavina 32. The Museum‘s collection contain a number of personal belongings, stories, audio and video testimonies, photographs, letters, drawings and other documents offering valuable insight into the unique experience of growing up in wartime. Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11:00 am to 19:00 pm.

Sarajevo’s clock tower is 30 meters high and it is believed that it was built in the 16th century.The tower's clock is the only public clock in the world that keeps lunar time (“à la Turk”), to indicate the times for the daily prayers. According to this system, the new day begins at sunset, when the time is shown as 12:00!
