Sightseeing
Hovedøya is one of the small islands very close to Oslo city centre. You can catch a ferry using your public transportation ticket from Aker Brygge, very close to Nationaltheateret metro station. The island has a beach and nice spots to swim and sunbathe, and there is an old monestary ruin and a cafe.

Frognerseteren metro stop offers a great starting point for hiking in the forest, and there is a great view over the city. There is also a big cafeteria near the metro station, and a lake for swimming. You can also easily hike to the old tv-tower Tryvannstårnet (which is not open) and in the winter there is a ski resort open here with a nice skislope. Also good for cross country in the winter time in this area. You can hike to numerous places, cottages and forest cafes from Frognerseteren, like Nordmarkskapellet, Tryvannsstua and many more.

Tøyenparken is a nice big park area near Tøyen station. Nice view. Good for jogging. A big swimming pool will be finished there during 2023. The botanical garden is nearby.

Grünerløkka is the hip area of town. A lot of hipsters and cool cafes, restaurants, bars and concert scenes. Take a tram to i.e. Schous plass, and you are there.

Matscene
A nice restaurant by the Frognerkilen pier. Very nice walking from here either to Oslo city center or to Bygdøy peninsula.
