It may seem intimidating to rent a car as we drive on the left hand side of the road, but you can do it! While the island does have taxi services, rides are often priced per head and not on a meter so it can get pricey for large groups.

There are a couple things that go a long way on island. The first is be sure that when entering a room or passing someone you say either good morning, good afternoon, or good night. It is considered very rude within the culture not to do so. It is also customary when entering an establishment to be covered and not walking around shirtless or in a bathingsuit. Many of the authentic West Indies establishments will not serve you if dressed like this as they feel it is a sign of disrespect.

The U.S. Virgin Islands only allows the use of reef safe mineral sunscreens as all others attribute to the devastating bleaching of our coral reefs and are toxic both for you and the waters. It is illegal to use anything other than reef safe sunscreen and you can be fined if caught using it. If unable to bring some from home there are plenty of stores on island that carry multiple brands of the product. Thank you for doing your part in preserving the beauty of this paradise.

Boat trips on island can fill up quickly so we recommend you book either prior to your trip or at the beginning of your trip to ensure you can make the most of getting out on the water.
