In our area - Graça - you can find lots of pastelarias (bakeries), nice terraces to have a snack, small family restaurants perfect to have grilled meat or fish, some taverns, but also vegetarian/vegan, sushi, italian and french crêpes or more gourmet experiencies. Here are some ideas...

1- The best way to explore the heart of Lisbon - Graça, Alfama, Castelo, Baixa, Mouraria - is on foot. But there are other options like the famous 28.
Buy ticket at newsagent; Choose the best options (per day, amount, Lisboa Card, etc). Cheaper than buying to the driver and can be used in all means of transport: bus, tram, metro, ferry and train (sintra/cascais).
2. On weekdays, take minibus 734 to come back home, instead of 28 Tram (if you see long queues to take the tram).
3. Late in the evening the taxi or uber are good options to come back home from Bairro Alto for ex. (8-10 euros ride).
