Highly recommended by me. Must visit and provides a great history of the Gansbaai area. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about taking care of the birds and offers a much needed sanctuary. The birds are also released back if they have been rehabilitated and will be able to survive in nature. They have a small gift shop and coffee shop on the premises.

Recommended. Take a scenic river cruise on Lady Stanford along the Klein River toward the Hermanus Estuary bird sanctuary, and back. Lady Stanford River Cruises offers an eco-friendly riverboat experience with plenty of photo opportunities. The Klein River is home to over a hundred bird species that include fish eagles, pink flamingos and blue cranes.

This trail, just two hours from Cape Town and close to Hermanus Overberg, has a two or three night option and takes hikers along a beautiful stretch of trail through coastal and mountain fynbos, remote forests and visits some fascinating environmental and social projects along the way.
