5 mins from my flat
Here are some great local spots within a 5 minute walk from the flat. If you want a morning coffee to take on a walk with you, there’s no better than Little Fitzroy. Twelve Triangle does THE most delicious pastries, Polentoni makes the tastiest Italian food to take away for lunch or dinner. Easter Greens is great for groceries or vegan ingredients and Cornelius is the most wonderful bottle shop that’s worth a browse if you fancy a nice bottle of wine or a local beer or gin!
The friendliest coffee shop around! You can sit in or go for a delicious takeaway coffee! Staff really know their coffee so also a good place if you want to pick up some beans! Also great cakes/sandwiches (with plenty vegan options).

If you’re looking for a bit of zen this is a lovely veggie cafe and wellness centre. They do meditation and yoga classes and there is a wonderful (and very reasonably priced) massage therapist.

Lovely community arts centre and cafe. They have regularly changing exhibitions and at weekends there are often events such as print fairs and flea markets. The cafe has homemade cakes and nice affordable breakfasts and lunches.

Couldn’t get much closer than this if you want to pop out the flat to pick up coffee and a croissant or you fancy a tasty & healthy breakfast or lunch. Their spicy vegan BLT is one of my all time favourite sandwiches!

There’s so many amazing restaurants and bars in Edinburgh so I won’t try and list them all. Instead I’ll just stick to the local places within a short walk from my flat!

A regular haunt of mine, the staff are the best, the food is great (a good mix of excellent pub food and more interesting specials) - one of my favourite places for a drink and food with friends! They also do a great Scottish breakfast (veggie too)!

Absolutely delicious Mexican place - it books up fast so best to book ahead. They are byob but their margaritas are incredible if you want a cocktail or two!

Ok this isn’t in Leith at all but if you want to treat yourself to a special meal while you’re visiting this would be my number one choice, absolutely delicious food. Interesting but not fussy. Great service and good drinks menu. You won’t regret a visit!

Local walks
There are lots of really lovely walks in a short distance of the flat. Calton Hill and Arthur’s Seat are great for views, Leith Links and Montgomery Park are great for sitting in the sun and dog-spotting (and Leith Links has a lovely food market on Saturdays), and Wardie Bay and Portobello Beach are great walks if you fancy a swim! If you want a longer walk, head to the Pentlands for great views over Edinburgh and you can even spot some highland cows!

Great area with a thriving arts community and loads of great bars and restaurants. The area is popular with young professionals as well as long-term “Leithers”. It’s an easy walk from the town centre, my flat is on the edge of Leith and Abbeyhill, towards the city centre end.
