Playa Negra is a fascinating place with it’s black magnetic sand (bring a magnet!), sandy cliffs, and crashing waves. This beach is unique and beautiful, well worth the short hike, even though your feet will may get wet if the stream is running.
Pro Tip: On the way back, reward yourself with a 1 liter Mojito at Robins Bar (across street from Blue Horizon resort). Best deal on the island.
There’s really no shade on this beach so plan accordingly. No need to haul coolers or chairs, just a bottle of water, sunscreen, and your camera.

Grab a bottle of wine, champagne, beer and some snacks and walk on down to the fisherman's pier in Esperanza. It is the small wooden pier. You are more than welcome to bring your own drinks, maybe meet some new friends, or some people coming in off of sailboats from the harbor. This is one of our fun things to do before we head to dinner.

Visit the island's only rum distillery. Go West past the airport. The owner has put so much hard work into making his dream come true, head on over for a free rum tasting. We like the coffee rum, why not?!
