This is great Q very close to downtown. Get there early before they run out of ribs. Texas Magazine rated them one of the best in the state - that's in Texas where there are BBQ joints every block!

This is our favorite non-taco joint Mexican restaurant. The dishes here are fantastic. Local place with great food. This is the place to take your guests for a very nice Mexican dinner.

Ma Harper has won 100's of trophy's for her gumbo. This joint is far from fancy, but has THE best gumbo. Not walkable from us, but worth a short drive for the gumbo.

This restaurant has a "Steak & Whiskey" sign in the window, and they mean it! Visit this place before a Spurs game and ride the free bus to the AT&T Center them back after the game.

The Hotel Emma is a culinary destination with a great bar, a shop selling upscale foodie items, and VERY expensive hotel rooms ($328!). Still, close by and well worth stopping in to gawk & get a drink
