Sightseeing
Rancho Leonero Resort "El Rancho" is 100 yards away from Casa Verde. This is the best of old school authentic Baja. This seasonal and rustic little resort is an international destination for fishing. John Wayne used to hang out here and fish, when it was only accessible by airstrip. The food is great and the portions are large*. Fantastic margaritas at the pool bar. You can't beat the view from El Rancho.
*seasonal and reservations are necessary.

Great food.
Great food, just north of Casa Verde. You can usually get there on the beach by quad. Taco Tuesdays are epic. It's a good idea to make reservations. Great Happy Hour. Enjoy the pool. Some weekends they serve dinner on the beach and have live music. Stunning.

One of our favorites in Los Barriles. Order a Cadillac Margarita and try the Rib-eye bites in guacamole (huge serving). Bring your appetite!

Don't miss this! Take your side-by-side to this gem outside of Santiago. In the middle of the desert, you'll find this gorgeous waterfall. Wear your bathing suit and pack a picnic.
It's about $8 per person to enter the ecological reserve. It's a 10 minute hike down to the waterfall, so wear some good shoes.

Another fabulous destination! 30 minutes north of Los Barriles is Punta Pescadero. Back in the day, Lucy (I Love) and Desi chose this spot, only accessible by airstrip then, to put a beautiful resort for the Hollywood crowd. Make it a full day excursion. Great snorkeling and spearfishing. Great food. Don't miss the Mango Margarita. Enjoy the pool. Horseshoe pits, massages, pool table, etc....beautiful special place.

Cars are okay, but just okay.
Side-by-sides and quads are really the way to go. We only use our jeep to go to Cabo or La Paz. Everything else, we use the side-by-side or quad. They are fun and easy to drive. They take the "washboard" out of the back roads. Once you use one in Baja, you won't rent a car again. Fernando can set you up.
