Looking for the best croissant in Paris? This place (arguably) makes it. Get ready for flaky bliss and butter guilt.

Grab a tarte tatin, a vollon and an aligre... Once you're fat and happy, enjoy the markets or take a walk on the Coulée Verte (Paris' high-line).

Refined, contemporary Pays Basque cuisine. I cried the first time I went here. Ok, so I'm a hyperbolic person...but this is worth every hyperbole I can throw at it. Insider tip: Order all the entrés instead of getting mains, like a mini degustation. Book in advance.

Exactly what an Italian restaurant should be, with simple flavours, fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, and a warm welcome each and every time. Cozy up with a lover, or enjoy a beautiful family-style meal with your nearest and dearest.

My life is defined as BB and AB — Before Bisque and After Bisque. So, get the lobster bisque. The fish (any of them), the squid salad and the lait du cochon are also favorites.

Cool, bar-like atmosphere, where you dine standing tapas-style with a bunch of locals. The menu boasts a range of fascinating little French things using interesting ingredients sourced from all over the country. You can sometimes chat to the guys who produce the wine that is sold there, and do a quick taste-test if you're open and lucky. Random chefs from around Paris are always hanging about. The hot dog here is crazy good. So is the jellied crab with fish roe.

Romp through shelves of pastries, stuffed peppers, gourmet salads, cheese and pâté, delicately stacked into a fantasy that is as visual as it is olfactory, as titillating to the tastebuds as it is confusing to that voice of reason that implores you not to blow a pay-check on 25 tartelettes. Blow your pay-check; know what it is to live.

This charming terrace in a quiet square just steps away from the Palais Royal will transport you somewhere just outside of Rome on a sunny Sunday. Think white dress or linen suit. Come for a conversation, an espresso, and an aperol spritz. Stay for the fascinating humans vespa-ing in and out of here.

Looking for a diverse, mouthwatering selection of spicy dishes and enjoyably garish design? Head to Dicoeur — my favourite Chinese restaurant in Paris, with marble, silver and gold splashed across walls, floors and tables with abandon! The lighting in here is pretty harsh, so be sure your dinner buddies have already forgiven you/fallen in love with your flaws... or use television-grade makeup. It is SO worth it. My god. I want to eat here every day. It's not expensive, so I pretty much could.

Drinks & Nightlife

This speakeasy bar and restaurant is tucked behind a giant grille/gate, through a cobble-stoned street, and to the left. A blissful little garden with experimental cocktails awaits you. Try the parmesan-cheese-laced cocktail if you love your pizza flavours, no matter what the medium. Indulge in a twisted Bloody Mary which packs a spicy punch, or go for a violet libation if you're feeling flowery. This place is also a glamorous boutique hotel and restaurant.

Parks & Nature

Paris' answer to the New York Highline (although, Paris did it first, and arguably does it better...sorry NYC). So many shades of green, little birds, roses and jonquils and anything else you may imagine from a Parisian Eden. Pop up here for a wander, watch local runners getting in some miles during their lunch breaks, and finish with a picnic at Porte de Vincennes.

Caves, waterfalls, a suspended bridge... The charm of a secret garden touched by fairies, children and fluffy animals. The Pavillon Puebla and Rosa Bonheur bars on either side of the park offer home made lemonade, cheap beers and live music. Just magical.
