Brew Intelligentsia coffee. Great paintings by Studio AM. Outdoor tables in the back. AND you can bring your dog inside. This is my favorite coffee shop in South Side, and I may have a minor addiction to their Earl Grey sandwich cookies.

Purveyors of the famed Pittsburgh sandwich with everything between two slices of bread, including the fries and slaw. I get the capicola and egg. This sandwich will probably clog a small artery. Side note: people tend to smoke cigarettes in this location. Head to the Primanti's in Oakland if you would prefer to escape any secondhand smoke.

One of our favorites. Great selection of beer ranging from Fat Head's own brews to many other local breweries. Gut-busting sandwiches and award-winning beer, you can't go wrong.

Head to the Squirrel Hill neighborhood to check out one of the greatest used records stores in the country. Jerry recently retired, but the place is still a quirky yet cavernous place to go digging. If you make it to Squirrel Hill, there are tons of great Asian restaurants nearby to grab lunch or dinner. Chengdu Gourmet is particularly good.
