Ask to be seated in the covered porch area overlooking the river or in the Truck Bar. Great views of the little pigeon river and excellent seafood and sushi. They frequently update their sushi and drink menus so they always have great options. Try the Lobster Ravioli if it is an option. Lots of custom woodworking sets the scene and gives a great ambiance You won’t be disappointed!

One of the best seafood restaurants you’ll ever experience! It’s pretty amazing that this place can get this fresh of seafood in the mountains. Enjoy a fine dining experience that you’ll never forget! Great for special occasions! It’s the “Nobu” of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

City/town information

You can get to Gatlinburg by going through the park. Take Line Springs Dr south from 321 (the intersection by Mountain Brothers General Store and The Heavenly Roast) all the way into the park. Cross the old bridge and turn left at the "T". The drive through the park to Gatlinburg is beautiful! Once you get to Gatlinburg, find some parking centrally located. You can walk across the town for most things, and save yourself some money by only parking once. There's all kinds of shops and things to do there: Ober Gatlinburg, Anakeesta, Ripley's Believe It or Not, Ripley's Aquarium, and so much more. If you are looking or a slower option, the Gatlinburg Trail starts at the western end of town and has a footpath that follows the river. It's an easy trail, and a beautiful hike! One of our favorite hikes for sure. We enjoy taking the leisurely hike and hitting up Starbucks in town afterwards!

Townsend is known as the "Peaceful Side" of the Smokies because it is usually much quieter than Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. A cute town with some local eateries and shopping. There's a small grocery store (IGA) and other places to shop for necessities (Dollar General, etc.). Check out the Apple Valley Mountain Cafe or Trailhead Steak & Trout if you're hungry. Dancing Bear Lodge is a nice place if you're looking for a casual fine dining experience as well. Townsend is also the closest entrance to the park to Cades Cove. Tuckaleechee Caverns are also nearby. Townsend is also a great place to rent some tubes and float the river in the summer time.

One of the most famous places in the Smokies. Traffic builds as the day goes by, so try for an early start if your going to drive the loop in Cades Cove. While the traffic can be tough, its worth it! Make sure you check out some of the old cabins along the way, and especially the area at the Cades Cove Visitor's Center.

Shopping

A great little store with all kinds of décor, souvenirs, clothing, etc. Also, they have a nice little coffee bar for your caffeine fix. When you walk in, you'll probably be greeted by the official greater, Biscuit, the sweetest dog that makes sure everyone feels welcome here. Peruse their carefully curated items while you wait for your turn to be seated at Elvira's Cafe next door.

BYOB

Sevier County is a “dry county”, so if you are planning on mixing a drink or two during your stay, we recommend you BYOB. You can find cold beer at most gas stations and wine and beer at the grocery stores. There is one liquor store in Gatlinburg and free moonshine and whiskey tastings at a few different locations but you will probably pay more at that L and it is not conveniently located at all! Save yourself some time (and money!) and bring your mixers with you.
