Really good New York-style pizzas with fresh, often innovative ingredients. They've got a larger menu but I've only ever gotten the pie. In the evenings they deliver by bike.

You always need to know where a drugstore is nearby; this one's just a few of blocks away. There's also a new CVS on Elysian Fields & N. Claiborne if that's your preference (it's not on the map yet).

Great little shop that only sells work by local artists and craftspersons. It's housed at the Kowalski address in Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire. Buy Local!

If you like thrift and don't mind a little dust, Bargain Center (and the adjacent, basically unmarked Pop Shop) is a must. I've gotten many a gem at these two unassuming spots.
