The best sand of any beach, ever. Live music at the drum circle which takes place every Sunday at sunset. If you love being among lots of people, use the public beach parking area. If you prefer less of a crowd, try one of the smaller beach accesses located along Beach Rd. I normally recommend Access 7 and 8.

The sand might not be the same as on Siesta Beach, but Turtle also located on Siesta Key- well out of the way of the giant crowds. For the active types I recommend renting a kayak or paddle board and exploring the mangroves of the Jim Neville Marine Preserve. There are several rental companies located on the key, some even meet you right there at the boat launch at Turtle Beach.

The sand might not be the same as on Siesta Beach, but Turtle also located on Siesta Key- well out of the way of the giant crowds. For the active types I recommend renting a kayak or paddle board and exploring the mangroves of the Jim Neville Marine Preserve. There are several rental companies located on the key, some even meet you right there at the boat launch at Turtle Beach.
Located about 16 miles from the house, Myakka State Park is definitely worth the short trek for nature lovers. It is the perfect place to see alligators and other FL wildlife. Don't miss the canopy walkway!

If simply enjoying the beach sounds a little boring to you, check out Caspersen Beach, located in Venice, FL (approx 17 miles from our location). This beach is very out of the way so it is not normally packed with tourists like Siesta. Venice, FL is known as the "Shark tooth capital of the world" and I have personally had the best luck finding teeth at Caspersen which is just a little south of Venice. They make a pretty cool souvenir!

Great museum located on absolutely pristine grounds. You can also visit the home of John Ringling as well as the Circus Museum for an additional fee. The main museum is free every Monday.

Popular among both tourists and locals, it is obvious why Walt's Fish Market is always packed! The fresh, local seafood can't be beat. The ambiance is just OK, it is located right off of the busiest stretch of US 41. However, the food makes up for the view.
