I don't know what you like to eat but, for what it's worth, this is one of our all-time favorite restaurants. It's only open for takeout, so make a picnic of it.

Yum. A gastro-pub in downtown Westbrook, and right on the river with a new outdoor deck for dining. They also have live music at times.
After dinner, go for a stroll down the river walk - it's lovely and about 10 minutes from us.

Access to some of the islands on Casco Bay! An affordable and fun way to get on the water and explore the bay. You can also take bikes. A great way to see a few of the islands is to take the "mail boat", which makes many stops.
Peaks Island is a short hop and offers some restaurants/food options, as well as a couple small beaches. If you have a bike, it's nice to circumnavigate the island, which takes about an hour.

Bite into Maine (the one food truck here) boasts some of the best lobster rolls in the area.

One of the best picnic spots in the state with elevated views of the bay and Fort Gorges. The trail connects with the Back Cove trail and goes all the way around.
Food trucks line up in the summer evenings with all kinds of offerings (you MUST get a maple creamy), and there might be a concert at the gazebo.
Tip: If you have bikes or want to walk, if you're in Portland on a weekend (where parking can be crazy), park at the Back Cove lot accross from Hannaford and ride into town. If you go in early, the Eastern Prom might be an easier place to park to ride into town.

Pleasant Point Park is located on the Simpson Road in the Salmon Falls section of Buxton and is a gem. The Park contains approximately 65 acres of land that border on the Saco River. This Park provides canoe and kayaking access, swimming, hiking, and picnicking.
After your visit here, hit Big Daddy's North for local ice cream and wood-fired pizza!
