The word "gongoozling" originated in Lancashire, birthplace of Britain's canals, from the local slang of "gawning" and "goozling": staring and watching with the mouth agape.

Great walk round a beautiful Edwardian reservoir in glorious countryside. Eight miles round on the correct route, ten miles if you get lost ….. I usually get lost on purpose !
