The best hikes (advanced)

A list of my favourite backcountry hiking destinations. Being remote and often with significant elevation change, these ones are perfect for visitors with lots of hiking experience!
Amazing hike to one of the most beautiful glacial lakes. Being 9km and 800m of gain one-way, this is no easy hike/run but it's so worth it: the views are amazing. Best time to hike the trail is July until October, but it can be hiked with microspikes / snowshoes / skis in winter. https://www.outdoorvancouver.ca/featured-trail-garibaldi-lake/

A steep climb to a beautiful lake surrounded by glaciers. I would only recommend this hike in summer or fall (July-October) unless you have avalanche skills for winter travel. https://www.outdoorvancouver.ca/wedgemount-lake-hike-whistler/

A beautiful lake that's hidden within Callaghan Valley. One of the things that makes this lake special is that you must paddle across Callaghan Lake to reach it! https://squamishadventure.com/explore-alpine-cirque-lake/

A locals' favourite lake. Perfect for a quick stand up paddle session, a picnic, a swim on a hot day, or some beach volleyball or tennis at the nearby courts! For those who love fishing, Alpha Lake gets stocked with hundreds of trout each year.

One of the largest lakes in Whistler, with many docks and access points to enjoy. Head to Lakeside Park to hit the lake with a rented paddleboard, canoe or kayak, or head to Rainbow Park for dog-friendly access!
