Here are just a few sites to visit.
Balos beach and lagoon. Definitely one of the highlights to make your holiday unforgettable. It is advisable to get an early morning start to avoid the crowds streaming to this majestic place. One can either take a boat to this from Kissamos, or drive up the dirt road leading to it and then enjoy a 20 minute hike to the beach.

Located to the Southwest of Crete within an hour's drive, you will be rewarded with the terrain on the way there, as well as with a most unique swimming experience.
Lake Agia. Great walk around the lake to be combined with coffee and food. A 15 minute drive away.

A visit to Crete would be incomplete if one does not stroll and eat in the old tannery industry district of the city of Chania. Picturesque, dilapidated, renovated buildings mesh with the most ambient coastline.
This in fact is the neighborhood I live in, so if you decide to visit let me know to give you a tour.
