Food Scene

The Delft Bistro is the latest addition to downtown Marquette featuring "Modern American Fare". The Delft Bistro is located in Marquette’s historic downtown Delft Theater. Just look for the marquis. It’s been under renovation for several years. The conversion to a restaurant was completed in early 2017. I’ve been there several times and enjoyed it.

Iron Bay Restaurant & Drinkery the newest restaurant in town. It is just across the street from the Lower Harbor Park. Nicely restored historic building with a great patio with views of the Lower Harbor and Ore Dock. They recently opened a tap room featuring an extensive lineup of Michigan beer.

The Landmark Inn has 3 dining options: Northland Pub, Piedmont Restaurant, and North Star Lounge. The Landmark is one of my favorites. The pub is casual and fun. The Piedmont is a more formal restaurant, excellent food, good for groups. The North Star Lounge is a small gem tucked away on the 6th floor. In the summer it has great views of the lower harbor. Good place to take your date.

The MarQ good “farm-to-table” style restaurant. From their website: “We are a locally-oriented gastro-pub in Downtown Marquette which serves gourmet food and drinks in a more informal atmosphere. Our menu consists of a few staple items but mostly offers seasonally driven dishes, a few simple, but well executed desserts, well-crafted cocktails, a few choice beers, and wine.” It’s on the finer end of Marquette’s dining options.

The Portside Inn is probably the best place to sit down for pizza and beer. Get the breadsticks and cheese. They have select Michigan craft beers on tap and a full menu with a lot of options, but I don’t make it past the pizza. It’s a small and popular place; expect it to be pretty busy on weekend evenings. It’s not a good option for very small children: no high chairs or booster seats. If you want to take kids out for Pizza, Aubrey’s which is next door is a better bet.

Good pizza and other comfort food options. Try the giro and waffle fries. This is an old school Marquette establishment. It’s a local favorite and is reasonably priced. I think they redecorated in 1980… I’m ok with that.

Want to watch a game? This your best bet. It’s a small sports bar with a lot of TVs, friendly staff and giant beers. If you’re into bar food, Stucko’s will not disappoint. They have a surprisingly large menu and good kitchen in a small space. In the evening, it is a popular student bar.

The network of trails starting from the North Side of Tourist Park are fun and fairly easy to follow. They are an excellent place to ride, hike, and run. The trails further North of town tend to be more rugged and harder to follow, fun for the adventurer, but easy to get lost.
