Pioneer is just a post office really. It’s a rural Appalachian community with windy roads with names like Coontail Holler lane. Lick fork road. Elk valley. It’s home to us and we love it!

Jellico is our nearest town (15 minutes north) with dollar stores, pharmacy, hospital, and a grocery store that is actually across the state line into Kentucky. We have a unique hardware store (Buck’s) with a museum of Jellico’s interesting history, and a couple cute boutiques-one clothes, one furniture! And don’t forget our local attraction-Indian Mountain State Park.
