It is the closest coffee to us and it is one of the coolest spots on the block. Nice atmosphere, friendly people and great coffee (or so Jamie says and she recommends the Americano). I am more or a tea drinker and I like how when you order a Chai tea latte here, they will ask if you want the sweet kind or the spicy, which is my favorite.

It is an old iconic amusement park that is waking distance from our house (near the river). While the park closes for the winter months, the classic old roller skating rink is open year-round.

This is one of Portland's prettiest public golf courses. The back nine borders the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. Beautiful in the spring!

On Lexington St. (just before 13th Ave.) there is a lovely board game store. You can even rent games for up to three days to try them out before buying! (We also have a number of games in our basement hallway closet that you are welcome to use.)

Beautiful Rhodie garden near Reed College. Especially beautiful in the spring, but a nice place to walk and feed the ducks throughout the year.

Petanque is the French version of Bocci Ball and it is played with steel boules about the size of baseballs. It is one of those "easy to learn, but takes a lifetime to master" kind of games. We have extra boules for you to use. Beginners and kids are welcome and it's FREE. Located across the street from the tennis courts at the north end of the park (SE 23rd & Bybee)

Definitely worth a drive if you have the time. Catch the Scenic Highway in Troutdale (off of I-84) and enjoy many spectacular waterfalls and trails.

Want to get into some snow, even in the summer? Take the 1.5 hour drive to Historic Timberline Lodge. You won't be sorry! And for skiing, if you like awesome views and mostly Blue runs, this is a good destination. You will find more expert (Black Diamond) terrain a bit further up Hwy. 26 at Mt. Hood Meadows. For night skiing, under the lights, Ski Bowl, has the largest night terrain in the country (and it's upper bowl has some of the mountain's steepest runs). Ski Bowl is the first area you reach on Mt. Hood and you can be there in an hour. They also have a summertime toboggan course, mountain biking, and other summer adventure activities.

And for skiing, if you like awesome views and mostly Blue runs, this is a good destination. You will find more expert (Black Diamond) terrain a bit further up Hwy. 26 at Mt. Hood Meadows. For night skiing, under the lights, Ski Bowl, has the largest night terrain in the country (and it's upper bowl has some of the mountain's steepest runs). Ski Bowl is the first area you reach on Mt. I believe this park is recognized as the only wilderness area within a city limits in the USA. Miles of hiking trails await.

It is a designated wildlife refuge and it is located "right over there!" The trailhead is right behind the baseball field at Selwood Park. Turn right at the bottom of the hill and follow the trail along the base of the bluff for about a mile and a half. At that point you will see a trail to the left that will lead you to the bike trail along the river. Turn left and you can follow the Springwater Cooridor back to Spokane Street and back to our house, making it about a 4-mile loop. Great for walking, running, birding, etc.
