This is our favorite place to eat in Austin. Torchy's Tacos is amazing just don't forget to order chips and queso when you go. It is consistently rated some of the best queso in the US.
Their breakfast tacos are good and they have a delicious dessert called Zookies

Cooper's original location is in Llano Texas and is the best BBQ in Texas in my opinion. Lucky us they opened another location right on Congress in the heart of downtown Austin.

This is our favorite place to get Mexican food. There are a lot of Chuy's TexMex Restaurants around town. This one is cool because it's right near Zilker Park downtown.

Drinks & Nightlife
This is a really cool bar on Rainey Street that is made entirely our of shipping containers. This bar offers great views of downtown Austin. Their drinks are good too!

If you want to do some bar hopping while in town we recommend going to historic 6th street in downtown Austin. There are 30+ bars on both side of the street and they completely close the road at night on the weekends. Start your hopping at The Jackalope and let the live music carry you to all the other wonderful bars on 6th street.

This is a great beer bar on Rainey Street. Rainey street is one of the favorite places for Austin locals and Banger's is amazing for German sausage and enjoying a German style beer bar. They have lots of outdoor and indoor seating and have over 100 beers on tap from all over the world. This place is somewhat family friendly and does not require guests to be 21+

They have lots of outdoor and indoor seating and have over 100 beers on tap from all over the world. This place is somewhat family friendly and does not require guests to be 21+

Be sure to check their hours before you go. Their hefeweizen is a local favorite. They have lots of indoor seating as well. They allow kids as well.
Parks & Nature
Zilker Park was just named one fo the top 3 parks in the United States. This is the location of the Austin City Limits Music Festival in the fall and is a great park year round. We highly recommend you visit it at least once.

There are hiking/walking/biking trails on both sides of the river as well as cruises and canoe rentals if you would like to go on the river. Breathtaking views at night. There are several parks and things to do on the south side of the park as well.

This is the closest grocery/essentials store to our home. Maybe a 5 minute drive at the most. They are open 24 hours as well. Walmart carries just about anything you could possibly need for your trip.
