Wine Scene and Festivals
Free wine tastings are provided as well as a guided tour of the vineyards. Live musicians and food vendors bring the outdoor patio and lawn to life on summery Saturdays. This is a favorite low-cost activity for us approximately 45 minutes down I-75.
The wine tastings are free and the selections are delicious.

The owners live on the property and treat you to a free tasting of an exorbitant amount of local meads and sweet wines. They also host a Viking festival in October and name several of their creations after the Viking history. Their knowledge of the craft supersedes those of fancier establishments we have come across in our own travels. Royal Manor is approximately 45 minutes inland and absolutely worth the drive.

Academic/Historical/Athletic
The University of Florida boasts beautiful woodsy trails through a historic brick campus laden with Spanish moss, oaks, and lakes with small alligators. The University is also home to multiple sports teams (and their games depending on season), history and art museums, performing arts center, and architectural structures all open to the public and worth experiencing.

Gainesville’s only dog-friendly brewery, Swamphead also has the most uniquely delicious beers in our personal opinion.
