Great place to walk around on a summer evening, many bars, late night restaurants. Great people watching too.
While Canils, a longtime family restaurant is one of the most expensive in the city, the views are worth going, if you just sit in the bar. The views are great, they often have live music and the drinks are superb. If you feel a little spendy try the Dungeness Crab cakes. There is a dress code: no shorts, no sneakers and a collar on your shirt. The customer service is second to none.

While the restaurant with its great views of the action of the Fremont Bridge is a wee pricey, the bar, which Michael works wonders making drinks, it a great choice for lounge food and much more affording dining out of the same great kitchen.

Mostly a boating crowd with bar/lounge food, but great service and pricing. Go on a hot summer day for lunch, but it can get crowded at peak summer and lunch time.
Only 1.5 miles from the house, can get crowded in summer time at prime dinner hour, but if your willing to sit at bar, most often you can get a seat right away.
