Quirky decor, thoroughly South African menu, the views of Kalk Bay and the great food make it a favourite of ours. Try the South African milk tart and the pork belly - sheer heaven. You can get there easily by train - it's across the road from Kalk Bay station.

This is a great market - we go here to eat a variety of delicious treats. Salad Lover sells salads to eat there or take away, and Rudi's sausages have to be tasted. You can also get craft beers, coffee, biltong, ice-cream, baked goods and other foods to eat on the spot or bring home. Great fresh veggies, a nice environment, some local grafts / gifts. Wednesdays from 3pm - 8pm and Saturday mornings too.

You can also get craft beers, coffee, biltong, ice-cream, baked goods and other foods to eat on the spot or bring home. Great fresh veggies, a nice environment, some local grafts / gifts. Wednesdays from 3pm - 8pm and Saturday mornings too.
A good spot to get lunch if you're shopping at Constantia Village. Great fresh choices, a relaxing environment. It gets very popular.

Cheap as chips - you don't get fresher seafood than this! Very informal setting inside Kalk Bay harbour, a small selection of very fresh fish. Good stop if you're in the harbour taking photos of the fishing boats. You can also buy fresh fish directly from the harbour, and you should see the local Cape fur seals at the same time. Easily accessible by train too.

Sightseeing
The oldest wine farm in the Cape, there are beautiful photo opportunities of rolling vineyards and the manor house itself. We've been for the wine-and-chocolate tasting more often than we should admit, and the restaurant Simons is good, too. A very photogenic stop. Ample parking, does get touristy in the summer. No entrance charge means you can explore for free.

Sunset is behind the mountain, not over the ocean, but you get stunning scenes of pink and orange sandflats as the surf recedes if you go there at sunset. It can be windy, take a wrap, and don't walk after dark.

A little fishing village that now has many little shops, restaurants, and a fishing harbour to explore. Many of our restaurant recommendations are in Kalk Bay. The Harbour House restaurant offers amazing food with a view you can't beat, but it's not a cheap option.
