This is a great beach to take your kids! Not only is the beach well protected from the wind, but there are great rocks to climb on and a lovely grassy park that's perfect for picnics. Summer time the swimming pool is open.

Doesn't look like much from the front, but don't be fooled. There's a big patio in the back overlooking the river where you can sit in wooden chairs IN the water for nice photo ops. Great burgers and HOT bloody Marys.

Owner, Bennett, has catered to the military at the Defense Language Institute and has created an amazing atmosphere that need to be seen. Ever wanted some kind of candy you used to get as a kid but you thought was long gone? Bennett has it. Military memorabilia? It's everywhere in this tiny store. Makes waiting for you sandwich a fascinating experience. And Compagno's is only two blocks from my home.
