The iconic bridge from so many movies and makes a lovely walk over to Dumbo in Brooklyn. Here you can grab a pizza at the famous Grimaldi's and an IceCream at Dumbo Ice Cream shop. Prepare for a crowded bridge, make way for cyclists and enjoy taking in the breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline!

Midtown neighborhood which has a tonne of billboard advertisements (some can be interactive), lots of shopping and broadway for plays and comedy shows. Although skip the comedy shows that people with fliers are advertising and just go to the Comedy Store one.

You can hop on the free Staten Island Ferry to sail past the Statue of Liberty if you are just interested in seeing it from the water. Alternatively, you can book a tour boat and get dropped off at Liberty Island to tour around the statue and go up to the base or the crown (must be booked well in advance). The tour boats also have packages where you can be dropped off at Ellis Island to learn about early emigrants to the US who arrived via NY.
Beware, there is a tonne of security checks and queuing on busy summer days so prepare to be waiting a lot for the tour boats

Not exactly a hiking trail but more of a long walk. This is a disused train line above pedestrian level that winds through buildings along the west side. The greenery is beautiful, the views amazing and there are lots of places to sit and relax!

Secret Dive Bar where you enter via a HotDog shop. (Hotdogs are yummy too so order one or two whilst you're waiting to get into PDT). The entrance is a phone booth where you pick up the phone and request a table, and then you wait! You can also try to call on the day you plan to go and try to snag a table.

Get there before 5pm and dress smartly to snag a seat at this incredible bar at the top of the Rockefeller building. Alternatively pre book a table by calling (212) 632-5000. The drinks are a little pricier but it is an amazing experience!

The rooftop is a black and white tiled restaurant during the day and the food is good! At night they convert this space into a kicking bar and you can also roam around the downstairs rooms. We've always been too drunk to notice if this is actually a hotel or just a cool name. Good place for drinks, get in early as the queues and crowds in there get silly so not worth it after midnight!

Hotel rooftop bar with a really cool hip buzzy vibe. Sometimes they have a DJ playing out tunes from the decks. The views of the Manhattan skyline across the water should be enough to keep you entertained sipping on that Moscow Mule!

This hotel has so much, the Standard Grille restaurant at it's base is delicious! There is a beer garden beside it for some drinks and of course at the top of the Standard hotel is the Boom Boom Room bar. The views alone are incredible! You can call ahead and book a table or get your name on the list but make sure to dress up and look the part. A memorable night out. This is also on the Highline so could be worthwhile after a stroll down the Highline.

H&M, Sephora, Banana Republic, Forever 21 etc and lovely Italian super restaurant/food emporium called Eately. The mall itself is now a tourist destination as it is the largest in Manhattan. The Oculus, or main hall, was designed by Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava and it is supposed to represent Angel's wings. Beautiful to see
