Great place not too far away. When the sun is shining, a great spot to take the kids and have a paddle and sunbathe, anytime of year, we enjoy walking out to Hilbre Islands. Check the tide times as this is only accessible at certain times of the day!

What is not to love here??!!
Historic, roman walled city with amazing architecture. Amazing range of bars and restaurants. Fabulous shopping. Nice walking along the city walls or along the river.

Food scene
We love it here! A range of micro-eateries (like the description!) where you can grab lots of different types of foods from great food stalls. These periodically change so there is always something new to try.
Live music is played to keep you entertained while you munch.
There is also a great bar there. If you are there in the autumn, do not miss the Oktoberfest celebration - almost as good as Munich!

Our favourite fish and chip shop in the area. A real old school place with friendly service and big portions. Get your ‘northern on’ and try curry sauce with your fish and chips!

Push the boat out, and your waistband a notch or two and try one of the tasting menus with a wine flight. Great chef and the service is impeccable. Not cheap, but the best things in life aren’t always free!

One of the more interesting zoos we’ve come across. Animals are very well housed in huge enclosures. If you are here around Christmas time, don’t miss the night zoo sessions where the festive spirit comes alive.

HUGE shopping centre with great prices around 15 minutes drive from our place. Go early (or late) as access and parking can get super busy. Plenty of places to eat, and also indoor mini golf and a cinema. Good for a rainy day.
