Big Springs is the headwaters of Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Monster-sized trout are seen in the clear, 50 degree thermally-heated water. Take a stroll on the 1-mile nature trail. Best place to spot moose!

The park is located on an 11,000-acre wildlife refuge in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and is home to an abundance of elk, moose, sandhill cranes, trumpeter swans, and the occasional black or grizzly bear.[ Two-thirds of the trumpeter swans that winter in the contiguous United States spend the season in Harriman State Park. Hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding in the summer, snowshoeing and nordic skiing in the winter.

Sightseeing

The Sawtell Peak Scenic Drive is a short, twelve-mile route that climbs to the top of the 9875-foot summit of Sawtell Peak. From the summit, the views of the surrounding area are magnificent. From the top, the visitor gets superb views of Yellowstone National Park, the Centennial Valley in Montana, Henrys Lake in Idaho and the Madison Valley in Montana. The Grand Tetons in Wyoming and the Pioneer Mountains in Montana are also visible way off in the distance.
