If you want to sample traditional New Orleans food in an eclectic/eccentric work-a-day place with the locals, look no further than Melbas. Poboys, grits, turkey necks, shrimp etouffee - all served hot plate style in an eatery connected to a laundromat, this place has it all!

Walk-in sandwich shop right by the streetcar stop, Genes' famous giant pink building is known for their heart-stopping hot sausage sandwich and high octane daquiris (which you can take with you!)

Tucked behind the Hi-ho Lounge is a secret treat - Fry and Pie! With 7" pie tins filled with hand cut french fries covered in various delicious toppings, its like chili cheese fries died and went to culinary heaven. This place was a massively popular pop-up started by husband and wife team Kristin and Nick Gile (former head chef at Bombay Club) which turned into a steady business several years ago.
