Welcome to The Eyrie! Our cottage is located in the Bates neighbourhood, just outside the gates to Rondeau Provincial Park. We are 3 minute walk to the beach and 1 minute walk to Rondeau Bay.
The Eyrie is about a thousand sq feet, with a combined kitchen, dining and living space. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make the perfect summer meal - from utensils to pots and pans and everything in between. Guests will only need to bring the food and drinks they want for their stay. The cozy dining space is perfect for an intimate meal or a party of 6! Cute, unique chairs surround a beautiful circular table. The open-concept living space is perfect to settle into a nice book or evening by the TV with a sofa, wicker love seat and chair, and (my favourite) poang chair. Not that you'll need it during summer stays, but the natural gas fireplace fills the room with warmth on those chillier nights. There is also a bookshelf with approximately 100 books to choose from with many bestselling authors - perfect for relaxing at the cottage during some downtime. For livelier times, there is a smart speaker that you can use to stream music and many board/party games to enjoy!
But you didn’t come to Rondeau to sit inside, did you? At the back of the house there is a lovely screened-in porch that exits off of the kitchen. This serene and comfortable spot is the perfect place to enjoy your book or just sit and chat if the pesky mosquitoes are out! The relaxing muskoka chairs are the perfect spot to enjoy an evening beverage. Behind the house there is an expansive backyard with plenty of room to roam. In the morning, sit out there and drink your coffee with the sounds of birds chirping. In the afternoon, grab one of our many yard games and unleash your competitive spirit. In the evening, fire up the natural gas BBQ and cook some delicious steaks before settling in to a perfect bonfire complete with marshmallows and s’mores.
Unlike normal AirBNB’s in stuffy, metropolitan areas, here you have access to so many spectacular outdoor spaces and activities. Without even entering the park, you can take the 3 minute walk to the shallow, semi-private beach for a day in the sun or take a stroll to Rondeau Bay to watch the sunset. If you’re hungry but don’t want to cook, there’s a fantastic restaurant steps away from the front door. After your meal, indulge in an ice cream cone from Bayview Market! Inside the park, your adventure gets even greater. Enjoy many different walking trails/bike paths, catch sight of dozens of different types of birds, spot a timid deer wandering down the road, visit the Rondeau Visitor Centre for a full 101 on everything that Rondeau has to offer wildlife, grab your fishing rod and head to the bay for some A+ fishing, or launch your boat at the public ramp and cruise around Lake Erie until the sun goes down. The possibilities are endless!
Our cottage is in a quiet group of homes/cottages, with quiet streets ideal for walking or biking. We are surrounded by water, and within walking distance of the Provincial Park and all it has to offer (walking trails, beaches, park store.) You don't need a park pass to enter the park on foot or by bicycle. The Park visitor center has lots of activities for children but is too far to walk. We have a vehicle pass at the cottage that you can use if you want to explore the farthest reaches of the Park!
