“Pine Tree Hill is a 1,500 meter high mountain that sits in Bukit Fraser. The trail head can be accessed near the end of the High Pines road, just before the bungalow after Seri Intan. The trail is about 5.5 km long, and it remains the most challenging and toughest trekking path in Fraser's Hill. The name is inspired by the coniferous plants that used to dot the peak. Of special note were five endemic conifer species of dacrydiums, which have all but disappeared from the peak today. The trail winds up and down across several tops and ridges before hitting the peak. The view from the peak is a panoramic vista of the surrounding landscape of forests and mountains on clear days. ”

Lodging
“ Gap Rest House is a colonial mansion that overlooks the trunk road from Kuala Kubu Bharu, perched on a slope just before the Gap. A popular budget hotel run by the government in the eighties and nineties, it was closed momentarily for a refurbishment exercise in the twenties, but work mysteriously stopped as it neared completion. Today, it remains unfinished - the walls and rooftops are structurally intact, but the halls and rooms inside lie in disarray, strewn with broken glass windows and scattered tiles. Fenced away today from prying hands, it's a curious attraction for visitors to view while at the Gap, perhaps to reopen one fine day. ”

Locality
“ Fraser’s Hill is a highland resort destination nestled among the mountains of Pahang, located about 40 minutes away from Kuala Kubu Baru. This cooling holiday retreat is popular for its nature activities and cooling climate, attracting not just locals escaping the city heat, but visitors from Singapore and other international locations. It is also one of the last hill stations of Malaysia, an imprint left behind by former British colonial masters. Fraser’s Hill has its roots in the 1890s, when the tin ore trade was bustling. After a failed gold mining venture in Australia, Scottish prospector Louis James Fraser arrived to explore the remote Titiwangsa mountains of Pahang. ”
