“The Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Mary Major or simply Lisbon Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Cathedral located. The oldest church in the city is the see of the Archdiocese of Lisbon. Since the beginning of the construction of the cathedral, in the year 1147, the building has been modified several times and survived many earthquakes. It is nowadays a mix of different architectural styles.”

“Lovely shop if you're a fan of canned sardines, and other fish specialties. They pack your can's by hand and it's very lovely and cute. Great people there, and the sardines are delicious! It will be hard to choose from the range they have available.”

“CUISINE: Japanese • This is my favourite local Japanese restaurant. Although they also serve sushi, my favourite dishes are the more traditional Japanese meals. Yuko Yamamoto, a Japanese based in Portugal for more than a decade, goes far beyond sushi and extends to traditional Japanese dishes made with the seasonal products. Famous are the takoyaki (fried octopus balls), the salmon zukedon (salmon marinated over sushi rice) or the ika somen (squid sashimi). Try it out! :)”

“This space is all about traditional Portuguese products, as a restaurant and shop. It offers specialties from different parts of Portugal, especially from the Azores islands. For meals there's a good list of appetizers and "petiscos" ("tapas"), as well as fish and meat dishes. It's also possible to sample the traditional canned Portuguese fish.”

“Founded in 1778 under the name Café da Neve (Snow Café), it then sold sorbets that in that period were famous across the city. In 1829, after a number of owners, it was sold to Martinho Bartolomeu Rodrigues, with the café soon becoming popularly known by the name of its new owner. Leading figures in Portuguese intellectual life were regulars with the café achieving its greatest fame due to the great universal poet Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935). In the café, he wrote the "Message", the only book he was to see published in his lifetime. The table where Pessoa would normally sit seems to be awaiting his return. On the walls, photographs reveal moments from the poet´s life in the Lisbon of the 30s”

“There isn’t a weekend during
 which Nicolau Lisboa gets
ignored on Instagram. Some
 post what arrives on the
table; others, the decor which
resembles a London cafeteria
with some Lx Factory touches.
And the menu has a bit of
 everything trendy, such as
pancakes (the stars of the
 house), tapiocas, eggs benedict,
smoothies or yoghurt with
granola. Go ahead and post that
#nomnomnom hashtag.”

“It is only 1,8 km from hotel Vila Queirós, beside to Se. Saint Anthony is the patron saint of Lisbon The tradition is that you will find a new (or better!) partner if you are able to throw and land a coin in the book of Saint Anthony on the statue in front of his church, the Igreja Santo Antonio. This tradition originates that Saint Anthony is the patron saint of lovers (and Lisbon) and this church was constructed on his birth place.”

“A beer museum and restaurant. Seriously, what more do you need? They have what we consider one of the best pastel de bacalhau ever. That's a cod fish cake in case you're wondering. Sounds crazy, but it's really crazy good. Located in the main city square by the river [Praça do Comércio]”

“Portuguese sandwiches highly priced for locals, but quite yummy (ok, for Lisbon standards - you have to travel around the country to find the real yummy)! I lived in this neighboorhood for more than 10y and just discovered this place on my last year living there, which means Baixa can still have some secrets. Mostly locals go to this place, since it's a bit out of the beaten track. Around 6-7 euros per sandwich. Favorite sandwiches: suckling pig (this is quite great by any PT standards!) and fried cuttlefish ("choco").”
