Woodend is a beautiful detached cottage, built in the late 1800's and is one of the last remaining original cottages in Carrick Castle, but recently fully refurbished. Situated in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Woodend is a 2 minute walk from the shores of Loch Goil and surrounded by mountains. It has its own enclosed garden and private driveway. It is easily accessible by car, being a 1 hour 15 minute drive from Glasgow airport, taking you along the stunning shores of Loch Lomond.
The Cottage is perfect for either a couple or a family with two children. Dogs are welcome (for a small extra charge of (£30). There is a fully functioning kitchen; a lovely modern bathroom with separate shower and bath; three toilets, a spacious lounge with functioning wood burner (WiFi and Netflix); a master bedroom with a king sized bed and a second bedroom with two single beds. In the summer, the living room benefits from being able to open large glass doors onto an extensive decked patio.
The Cottage is situated in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. It benefits from being a 3 minute walk from the shores of Loch Goil, a sea loch containing otters, porpoises and seals. It is also surrounded by mountains. The area is incredibly beautiful and completely different depending on which season you visit the Cottage. There are a number of activities available including: cycling, walking, hiking, climbing, fishing, shooting, golf, boating, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. The Cottage is 10 minutes drive from the village of Lochgoilhead, which has a pub and a handy local shop. In the village is the Drimsynie Holiday Park; with an indoor pool, all weather leisure complex, golf course, restaurant and other facilities (which you can pay to access).

A spacious holiday home perfect for family or friends in a get-away-from-it-all location overlooking Loch Goil in the Loch Lomond National Park. Piano player in your party? The baby grand in the lounge is a nice touch.
QUICK FACTS 4 bedrooms ● Sleep 9 ● Wi-Fi ● Dog Welcome ● Refurbished villa in the shoreside village of Carrick Castle. THE PROPERTY This characterful, 2 story villa offers a good standard of accommodation and facilities while still retaining many of the original Victorian features. Just yards from your front door you are on the shores of this scenic, tidal sea loch. Perfect for fishing, exploring the waters between the rocks with nets and strolling along the quiet loch side road. With views north towards Lochgoilhead, south to the entrance from Loch Long and mountains all around, this is a scenic and peaceful place to stay. GROUND FLOOR Entry from the roomy, off-road parking area to the rear of the house with space for 3 or 4 cars, is via the back door, leading into a porch area. Carry on into the house to the spacious hallway where you will find a WC cloakroom and a broad, dramatic staircase. The drawing room is at the front of the house with a magnificent bay window giving you a full sweep of the ever changing panorama. This is the place to relax and socialise – with a baby grand piano, you can even enjoy live music if anyone in the party plays! At the rear of the ground floor is a TV/games room with a 32″ TV, DVD, iPod docking station as well as a selection of board games, plus mountain and loch views for added distraction. There is a single bed in the room to sleep a 9th guest. Please be aware that if you are a larger party the TV room has limited seating. It is ideal for some of your party to have a quiet room to watch TV. There is no TV in the main lounge. Across the hall is a separate dining room with a table for up to 8 guests, who can also feast their eyes on the view of the loch and the 14th century castle through another huge window. The modern kitchen is behind the dining room and is fitted with all the appliances, crockery and utensils you will need for a self-catering holiday – it also has views across fields to the farmstead behind and up onto the mountainside rising beyond to distract you from the washing up! FIRST FLOOR Large landing and four spacious bedrooms to sleep 8 (9th guest is in the ground floor TV room) BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS Bedroom 1: 4-poster bed, loch view, en-suite shower and WC. Bedroom 2: double bed, loch view, en-suite bath with shower over bath and WC. Bedroom 3: sleigh style double bed plus single bed, mountain and loch views. Bedroom 4: twin bedroom Family bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. FACILITIES FREE Local Walking Guide - on request - see below in this description Free WiFi Central heating throughout Freesat TV, Hi-Fi and Docking Station Fridge, freezer, microwave, 4 hob cooker, oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer Linen and towels included – beds made up for your arrival Iron and ironing board Cot and highchair available No smoking property Off road hard standing to park 3-4 cars Games & books Starter pack of liquid soaps in all toilets plus toilet paper, 2 black bags, 1 bottle of surface cleaner, scourer, cleaning cloths PET One well behaved dog is welcome. Please be aware that your dog is not allowed upstairs in the house. £30 per stay. OUTSIDE SPACE Beach House has a raised patio area at the front of the house with a viewing bench and steps down to a lower lawn, which finishes just yards from the bank across the lane with further steps down to the high tide mark. There is a grassy area to the rear beyond the parking area, with extensive open views to the surrounding mountains, in the middle of which the house nestles as if in a bowl of green and purple peaks. Straight out of the front door, there are low level coastal walks along the side of the loch round to the next villages in each direction; mid level forest walks across the face of the mountains; and high level peak walks over the tops – not for the unprepared or the inexperienced at this level though. And bring your binoculars! Depending on the time of year the gannets put on a marvelous display diving for fish, and you can look out for seals, which are common. The oyster catchers are great fun running frantically around on the foreshore, stopping to thrust their long, bright red beaks into the ground; the hooded crows are fascinating as they fly up with shellfish and drop them onto the road and the rocks to break them open; deer are regular visitors to the shoreline in search of seaweed; and a rare red squirrel has recently been seen scampering along a bridge parapet barely 50 yards from the house. Porpoises are also regular visitors to the bay and in the last two years there have even been sightings of what are believed to have been minke whale. No matter what, you’re in a perfect spot to look out for all of them with easy access to the shoreline, the woods and the mountains. We have to admit that the beach is not golden, tropical sand but primarily pebble and shingle, although there are sizeable areas of sand exposed as the tide retreats. However, the nooks and crannies among the rocks and the clarity of the water make for fascinating exploration territory as you paddle along the waterline, following the tide out and back – getting the kids back in for meals can be hard work! There is a collection of ‘House Wellies’ in a variety of sizes in the back porch to facilitate such adventures, even for those who only brought sandals – the water can be chilly on the toes and nobody comes to Scotland with a plan to lounge around working on their tan now, do they! WHO WILL ENJUOY STAYING AT BEACH HOUSE? This spacious and well-appointed house will be ideal for larger families or groups of friends looking for good facilities within the property in a get-away-from-it-all location. Carrick Castle is at the end of a 5-mile single track road from Lochgoilhead, which is 5 miles down a single track road from the high point in the pass through the Arrochar Alps known as Rest And Be Thankful. Having made the effort to get here, Carrick Beach House is the ideal base for enjoying time together as well as getting out on foot and exploring what the area has to offer. This is a place for people looking to enjoy a family holiday, a get-away-from-it-all break or perhaps a special birthday or anniversary. You can be as relaxed or as energetic as you wish; you can choose the pace of life that you want to live for a truly magical break in a world that really does seem to be somewhere else entirely, in the house on the beach at the end of the road.

Read the reviews – Dalriada is a much loved holiday home. Turn up, switch off, re-charge. A wonderfully refreshing cabin-in-the-woods type holiday on the shores of Loch Goil in the Loch Lomond National Park. Bliss.
Introducing Dalriada (pronounced: dael’riada) A cedar wood chalet holiday home located between the villages of Lochgoilhead and Carrick Castle on the west side of Loch Goil. The entrance is shared with another property which is only occasionally occupied by the owners. Step out of the chalet and you are right on the shores of this scenic tidal sea loch. Bring your binoculars. Depending on the time of year the gannets put on a marvellous display diving for fish and you can look out for seals, which are common. Porpoises are regular visitors and there has been sightings of Otter’s on the shoreline this year (2014). No matter what, you’re in a perfect spot to look out for them. Dalriada will be appreciated by visitors looking for a comfortable, modest base to relax in a rural west coast setting. This is a holiday property where you truly come to switch off. The standard of furnishing and fittings are in keeping with a chalet type property. Simple but functional. Outside there is an enclosed balcony patio area suitable for a pet. Outdoor seating for 2. Bird feeders placed so you can enjoy the visitors from the lounge area. Dalriada is all about the views. This is the place to sit and watch boat traffic on the loch, as well as look out for the birds and animals.

Welcome to my newly renovated home on beautiful Loch Goil, deep in Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. It's a warm, cozy and comfortable space to relax and enjoy the stunning views of Loch Goil and the surrounding mountains. It's the perfect holiday destination for lovers of the great outdoors or anyone looking to get away from it all.
This detached bungalow is set in large mature, enclosed gardens and is surrounded by mountains, woodlands and streams, and of course Loch Goil which meets the bottom of the garden. The adventurous can launch water going equipment from the house, and the slightly less adventurous can enjoy a cup of coffee with an uninterrupted view sat on the sea wall. I have just refurbished the house to live in to an exceptional standard, and rent it out from time to time whilst travelling. As such I would expect guests to treat it like their own home. The open plan living area has a vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams, an exposed brick fire place, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the loch, an upright piano, a breakfast bar and a round table with seating for 8 (10 at a push). The floor is finished in oak, the worktops in granite, and great attention to detail has been put into the lighting which I’m sure will impress. It has 4 bedrooms, sleeping 10 guests, and has two full size bathrooms. Each bedroom has a walk in wardrobe for guest use The house is powered by a sustainable air source heat pump, and as such has pressurised hot water from the rainfall showers in each bathroom. We have 35Mb Broadband, 4G phone reception and ASDA will deliver food if you wish. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the main living area for a small extra cleaning fee, but please not in the bedrooms. Anyone frightened of dogs should be aware that my next door neighbour rescues Huskies, which although are beautiful and friendly, may sing together at meal times! If you ask in advance I may be able to arrange meeting the Huskies! If you bring your own dog please make sure it doesn’t sit and bark at the Huskies all day. Please note Lochgoilhead, like much of the Highlands, can have large numbers of midges (small biting insects) in the summer.
There are marked lochside and forest walks from the door, sea angling in the loch and river fishing by permit. An indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, along with a restaurant, bar and 9-hole golf course are available at Drimsynie, which is a 20 minute walk from the house. The village centre with local shop and pub are a 5 minute walk. A 20 minute drive away is Loch Fyne, with its world famous Oyster Bar and Inveraray, with its picturesque castle and medieval jail.

Fernbank is a beautiful old house and is surrounded by stunning scenery as we sit right by the GareLoch. This room is a large double bedroom with fantastic views onto the Loch, with ensuite bathroom. The price includes a European-style-help-yourself breakfast. Please note that if you book from 21st December to 6th January we will celebrate Christmas and Hogmanay (New Year) with you - Christmas tree, roaring fire, Christmas dinner/lunch.
The house boasts; a large sitting room with comfy chairs and a big TV, dining room, study, utility room, downstairs toilets, sun room and a scullery for drying wet clothes from hiking/climbing. The GareLoch is across the road at the bottom of the front garden and therefore seconds away to walk. It's a little rocky but is spectacular and if you are lucky you may see a submarine!
The area is well known for HMNB Clyde, home to the UK's RN submarine fleet, and regardless of politics, they are quite impressive seen close to. Helensburgh is a lovely seaside town boasting many restaurants and cafes, great ice cream, a long pier, swimming pool and a cinema with 2 screens housed in an old church. Loch Lomond is 15 minutes away, Dumbarton Castle 25 minutes away and many other Lochs within an hours travel. The Arrochar Alps are also about 35 minutes from Fernbank and boast great walks and climbing.

  • Fernbank.

Homely cottage in Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. Comfortable space to relax and enjoy stunning views of Lochgoil and surrounding mountains. Ideal holiday destination for lovers of the great outdoors.
Hamilsmay is a two-bedroom timber-framed detached house in a quiet location on the banks of Lochgoil. A double-height living room, complete with cosy wood-burning stove and floor-to-ceiling picture windows provides a comfortable space to admire the stunning views and passing wildlife. The house is on two floors with both bedrooms upstairs and bathroom/toilet downstairs. The master bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has two single beds which can be zipped together to make a double. A travel cot is also available.
The house is in a rural, wilderness setting 1 mile from Lochgoilhead village. Very few houses are at this end of Lochgoilhead making this a tranquil, undisturbed area. Lots of great walks from the house and fishing nearby. Replenishing the bird feeders will ensure a steady stream of feathered visitors, plus the odd red squirrel! Seals are often seen swimming by and occasionally porpoises in the distance. The village has a post office with basic food/household supplies, a 'hotel' (pub) and marine store for fishing supplies and boat rental. The jetty in the village is a big draw for fishermen/women/children and a great place to catch mackerel in summer. Drymsinie holiday village on the other side of the loch offers a range of leisure facilities including gym, swimming/spa, indoor bowls, badminton, mini golf. The house has information on local places of interest, maps and a simple map showing walking routes from the house. Additional information on local routes and other nearby attractions can be found on the Visit Cowal and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park websites. Please note that mobile phone reception in the area is patchy. Around the house, you should find good coverage for most network providers apart from O2 (there is a landline in the house for emergencies).

Sorry, not suitable for under 12’s. Quirky, octagonal cottage overlooking Loch Long. Only a few steps from the shore with stunning mountain and sea views. A truly charming, cosy holiday home, perfect for for canoeing, golf, fishing and walking. Parking for one car. Well behaved dogs welcome, although garden is not fully enclosed. Fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine, microwave, hob, oven, fridge and freezer.
The cottage is extremely pretty and much admired, with its highly distinctive architecture. Located in the hamlet of Ardentinny. NB:The twin bedroom is on the ground floor and the double bedroom is on the top floor. The twin beds are bespoke to the quirky shape of the bedroom and are therefore slightly higher up than standard single beds. The open fire has a small non-secured, removable fireguard so children must be supervised in the living room. Ardentinny has a church, excellent restaurant and pub. The nearest local store and post office is at Stone. The neighbouring village of Kilmun has a hotel with an excellent restaurant and a historic church and mausoleum. Dunoon, twelve miles away, has more extensive facilities includung a library, hospital, leisure centre, swimming pool and cinema. There is a regular bus service to Dunoon and a passenger ferry from Dunoon to connect with trains from Gourock to Glasgow.
Stunning, friendly village with fabulous restaurant and pub 3 mins walk away :)

Spacious and well equipped, this a beautiful home to enjoy spending your holiday in. The house sleeps 8, there are 2 double beds and 2 zip and link kings that split into 2’6 twin beds which are perfect for children but might be a little narrow for some adults. In each room is a chest of drawers, a chair, a mirror, towel rail, a wardrobe and a hairdryer. There’s a dedicated study area upstairs with an air printer, desk and chair. There’s a combi boiler and good heating system. The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The island seats 2 and there’s a 7 burner, 4 oven gas stove. The separate boot room also houses the washing machine and tumble dryer. The shower room upstairs has a large cubicle with rain head shower and the bathroom has a fabulous bath. It’s enormous, takes 30 minutes to fill and I heartily recommend lighting the candles and sinking into steaming, scented water after a long walk on the surrounding hills and remaining there till you resemble a prune or your glass of wine is empty whichever comes first.
Garelochhead is a busy little village with a pub, two local shops, a post office, 2 cafes, a couple of takeaway outlets and a church all within walking distance of the house. Turning right out of the drive will take you to the village of Kilcreggan and a foot ferry to Gourock 15 minutes away by car. Helensburgh is our local town and it’s great. Full of independent shops, award winning restaurants and history. Close to numerous golf courses, the Arrochar Alps are only 20 minutes’ drive away as is Loch Lomond and the village of Luss. Glasgow Airport is just 45 minutes’ drive away. A bus runs from outside the house to the local town of Helensburgh although there’s 2 hours free parking in the centre of town if needed.

For fishing you can hire a boat fromLoch Goil Cruisers or fish from the shore. Made up of the three previously separate estates of Invernoaden, Glenfinart and Carrick Farm along with the Carrick Wood, it is now a single block of land extending to 8,515 acres. The open hill will be the focus of a biodiversity management programme which will include strict grazing control, a process which has already started and which is already paying dividends in terms of increased biodiversity. The Estate has a policy of open access for walkers and cyclists. The Estate will create waymarked paths on the hill to provide walkers with a safe access route to the higher ground. A gem of a cottage offering loch & mountain views, a sun room and a wood burning stove. Perfect for walkers being just steps away from the start of marked walking trails in Lochgoilhead.
WELCOME TO IVYBANK COTTAGE A gem of a cottage offering loch & mountain views, a sun room and a wood burning stove. Perfect for walkers being just steps away from the start of marked walking trails in Lochgoilhead. LOCATION WITHIN THE LOCH LOMOND NATIONAL PARK Ivybank was built around 150 years ago as the gardeners cottage for the large Victorian villa situated next door. When the owners modernised the holiday home they were careful to retain many original features. Inverlounin Road is a single track private road leading from the village and following the east shore of Loch Goil. In parts the road is in an elevated position and there are many original grand Victorian homes built between the road and the grounds sloping down to the loch side. Parking is at a premium so the parking bay for one car off the road at the entrance to the property is a great start. As soon as you step out of your car you will be drawn to the view. The cottage is elevated from the lochside and this is only a taste of the uninterrupted views to be enjoyed from the outside patio area. Care has been taken to make sure access is suitable for all. There is a ramp with a slight slope to a side door and then one step to enter the property. From there all rooms, except the double bedroom, are on one level so Ivybank is suitable for anyone with limited mobility. It is a pleasant 10 minute stroll down Inverlounin Road into the village where you will find the post office and general good store and the Goil Inn which is the village pub and restaurant. Either a 30 minute walk through the village, or around the lochside; or a 5 minute drive on quiet roads, you will find more dining and activities available at the Drimsynie Estate. For a small lochside village there truly is an impressive choice of places to go and things to do. Boat hire is available in the village, with free fishing on the loch. There are endless walks from the doorstep for all ages and fitness and cycling and mountain biking give access to fabulous views. TOUR THE COTTAGE You enter the cottage via the patio area into the sun room. Being on the east side of the loch you have the sun till late in the day when it dips behind Beinn Bheula and Beinn Lochain. The sun room is private and perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view and looking out for the visits from the red squirrels and bird life in the garden. From the sun room you enter a small hallway which has a full sized walk in shower and toilet off to one side. The kitchen is modern and equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. There is a wall mounted TV with its own signal. You can watch a different programme than what is being shown in the lounge. The heart of the cottage is the spacious lounge. Who wouldn’t enjoy the special effect that a wood burning stove adds to a lounge? The modern touch of a large wall mounted TV with Freeview makes for a cosy space to socialise and relax. Ample hot water on demand and the cottage is heated by temperature controlled space heaters. Towels are provided. To the front of the cottage is the patio area with a path leading down to the garden which is built on three terraces. The views across the loch to the far hills are stunning at any time of year, and sunsets are a delight. BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS Bedroom 1: Down 3 steps and has a King sized double bed and built in wardrobes. En-suite with a bath and shower over the bath.
