Enjoy DC's best neighborhood in our lovely, light-filled, row house! The quiet neighborhood of Capitol Hill is perfect for families and a great jumping-off point to the rest of the city. Enjoy easy access to restaurants on H St. NE and Barracks Row SE, museums, bike-share and metro. Newly renovated spaces (not pictured) with expanded kitchen, perfect back deck and larger bedroom.
Traveling with kids can be daunting. Make it enjoyable for the whole family by staying our lovely home in the heart of Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Do your kids need separate bedtimes and bedrooms or want scrambled eggs for supper at 5:30? Do you need to wash clothes due to a spill or accident? Does your teenager need space after a day of family "togetherness"? We've got you covered. And... we can help you find a reliable babysitter so the grown-ups can enjoy a night out on trendy H Street or Barracks Row.
Help yourself to a yummy breakfast from our kitchen, take a short walk to P&C market in the morning for fresh, authentic french pastries, or head to Eastern Market for blueberry pancakes. Our kids are home schooled and you won't find many plastic or electronic toys; however, our marble tracks, puzzles, games and abundant art supplies are yours to use as you like. You also won't find a television here, but there is so much real-world stuff to see you won't miss it!
We are a family of six with one in college and three in elementary school. Our well-edited home easily sleeps six adults or children (one queen, one bunk bed and two twin beds).
Books for bedtime? Check! Night lights? Check! Stuffed animals? Check! Our weekends are flexible--if you'd like to come and stay at a time that's listed unavailable, just ask and we'll see what we can arrange.
We offer off-street parking for one and sometimes two cars (most hotels charge $30-$40 per day for a spot) and have several Metro Smart Trip cards for use during your visit.
We are eager to share our home with you and know your whole family will love the experience of Capitol Hill and DC as much as we do.
Guests will have access to the upper two levels of our home: the main level with living room, dining room, kitchen, backyard and parking; the upper level with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Guests may use the laundry area in the lower level.
Our house comes with the ultimate amenity for families: a built-in babysitter. Our tenant (who occupies the basement bedroom) is often available to hang out with children. If she is not available, we can usually find a great sitter from our local neighborhood network.
If any family members are home during your stay they will use the kitchen only when guests are out of the house.
Общение с гостями
We communicate by email, text and phone. Sometimes our basement tenant will be present to meet guests when they arrive. If other family members are present they will be staying in the lower level of the house. We will let you know this before finalizing the reservation so that you are completely comfortable.
We are happy to interact with our guests as our guests desire. Since hosting with Airbnb we have, with our guests:
--helped with directions and reservations during their stay,
--shared family picnics at local parks
--driven guests to local supermarkets
--driven guests to Union Station to catch the train
--provided advice regarding attractions and logistics
We are happy to hear about your adventures at the end of the day if you are interested in sharing with us. Otherwise, we won't be here or will be out of the way.
Другие важные подробности
We often have a tenant in the bedroom on the lower level. There is a separate bathroom and entrance for that person but they do share the kitchen. Although it is rare for you to bump into each other there is some chance that you will. Don't worry--they are always lovely people or we wouldn't live with them!
We do not have cable TV service but, if you like, we can set up a small screen (and optional DVD player) that we use when watching Netflix movies together as a family. This setup will not serve as a true television and you will not be able to stream other websites on it unless you hook it up to your laptop with an HDMI cable (which we can provide). The wifi is generally reliable in DC but occasionally the internet speed is slow. If there is something really important you wish to see (a sporting event, etc), there is a small chance that increased internet demand within the neighborhood will make it difficult.
Please respect our home. We realize our guests come from various cultures and backgrounds and we welcome that. However, this is our home, not a hotel. We ask that you conduct yourself as you would if you were a guest in a friend's home. For example, please do not sit naked on our couch (yes, this really happened).
This is a family home: no smoking, no pets, no loud music, no drug use, no parties.
No un-registered guests at any time.
To avoid plumbing problems flush nothing but toilet paper!
You are renting the upper two levels of our home, the lower level is connected but occupied by our tenant and a home office (used in the mornings) if family members are home during your stay (this happens rarely) they will use the lower level as well. Everyone shares the kitchen though we do our best to do so when guests are out of the house.
Due to problems in the past we have had to implement a minimum age requirement of 24+. Guests under the age of 24 are very much welcome along with parents or guardians.
Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. If you'd like to arrive earlier or stay later, please ask and we will see if we can accommodate.
While we do a thorough professional clean between each guest stay, we kindly ask that prior to leaving, you wipe the bathroom surfaces with a Clorox wipe, start the dishwasher (don't stick around to empty it, we'll do that!) and strip beds. It helps us get through our cleaning process quicker and allows us to keep cleaning costs down for you and future guests.
We understand that accidents happen. But we do ask that you please let us know when they do. Chances are we can fix them as effortlessly as possible which also means better chances of having your full security deposit returned too.
Enjoy yourself in this wonderful city!
Originally from Pennsylvania I've been living in Washington, DC for 14 years. I'm a mom, wife, and owner of the small business Saving Grace Services, Inc. I can't live without: my dear husband and four kids, my library card, the feeling that I'm making progress, a neat and tidy house, and chocolate chip cookies (with raisins).
My life motto: Trust in providence and say "thank you" a lot!
