A great room to see the city, with apartment conveniences. Full kitchen, and delivery menus. Living room with views, theatre library, TV. 3 blocks from City College, and 1 train. Across from Riverbank State Park. 30 minutes to Times Square.
I just moved into the apartment a year ago, but have lived in the building for 11 years. This is the New York home I've always dreamed of having. All the rooms come off of a 45 foot long hall, with exposed brick. They all have great light, hardwood floors, and are freshly renovated.
The building is most favorably described as shabby chic. It's a prewar building and well worn. But like the neighborhood, it is on the way up. A brand new laundry room has opened in the basement. Apartments, like this one, are being renovated one at a time. Occasionally there is trouble with the elevator, and it is down for the day while they make it safe. Likewise, the pipes and boiler are old, requiring occasional maintenance. If either of these goes down during your stay, a 10% discount will be given for each. But this only happens rarely.
Guests are welcome to use all areas of the apartment that aren't occupied.
The living room is comfy, and has tons of amenities that would interest performing artists, a ballet barre and mirror, keyboard, guitar, theatre library, etc. There is a set of dumbbells, 10s, 15s and 20s along with a bench if you need to do a little toning while you're here. The TV has cable with HBO and Showtime.
The kitchen is fully stocked and ready to go. Most any food you want to bring in can be prepared here. But the cooking is all on you. Please do your dishes promptly. If that's not your thing, I have tons of delivery menus, and there are lots of restaurants in the neighborhood.
The bathroom is freshly renovated with mostly new fixtures. The tub is the original cast iron job, but the sink and toilet are new. The walls and floor have fresh marble all around.
Общение с гостями
I have lived in the city for a long time, and have a great amount of information to offer. If you have any questions, I'm always available. I do travel sometimes for work, though, so if I'm not around, you'll have to rely on my roommate, Lisa, another longtime New Yorker.
Другие важные подробности
We have a very groovy cat named Mango. He's very friendly, but won't bother you too much. He does like to roughhouse a little, but only with people he knows well. There are no rugs in the place, and I vacuum often, so cat allergies, which I have, are not too bad.
This is an easy going kind of place. We try to live without arguments and confrontation, so please be respectful and courteous to the other roommates and guests.
You are responsible for doing your own dishes within a reasonable amount of time. It's okay to leave the odd coffee cup or cereal bowl until you can get to it, but it's not okay to leave a sink full of dishes. General rule of thumb, if you make a mess, clean it up.
There are four bedrooms in the apartment and one bathroom, so please be succinct with your ablutions.
Everyone is welcome to use the contents in the living room. If you do, however, please leave them as you found them so everyone can take advantage. You can take things to your room, but please don't take them out of the apartment.
