giovanni is a very nice host and always available via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for any queries, piera and her daughter who look after the house are also very nice and live locally. the house is in the countryside, great location for hiking around the peninsula (when it's not 38 degrees!) and for trips to many of the beautiful beaches (being august, you had to be there by 10.30am or no parking left). santa teresa is near but traffic in august is quite bad in the evening and parking near impossible in the centre. however, you can park at the marina and have a stroll around there. there is a shortcut from the house down to the marina so you don't need to go into santa teresa. the house is clean but quite small and feels a bit cramped with all the furniture (on the positive side, you have a lot of storage). everything is quite basic (kitchen only has 4 gas hobs, sink, fridge, pots, plates and cutlery - no microwave, oven, kitchen machines etc.) but there are enough pots and plates and everything is clean. the kitchen and terrace are not exactly big enough to eat for 4 people, but you can manage. there's a bed in the kitchen taking up space and the ladder to the loft is right against it. the loft space has a very low ceiling and an even lower beam going across from one side to the other at about 60cm height so it's a bit difficult to get up there and into the beds without knocking your head. when we were there, it was very hot and no wind (unusual apparently) so no one could sleep in the loft space and we had to buy a fan for downstairs - which hopefully stays for future guests :-) the house is in a very nice setting with big boulders the kids loved. the pool is only a few steps away, it's clean (watch out for the wasps and bees, though) and quite big and we mostly had it to ourselves. the place is generally quiet and mostly occupied by italian families. on friday and saturday night, though, we were woken up by thumping bass music that went on until 5am. i'm not sure if there's a disco anywhere near and the wind carried the sound to us. sardinia is beautiful and we'll definitely go back, but not in the summer holidays.
