La Caseria de Milán podría ser perfectamente uno de las ultimas casas en Granada todavía esta habitada por la misma familia desde el siglo XVI. la casa es de origen Arabe y es uno de los mejores ejemplos de arquitectura Andaluza
The Caseria de Milan could perfectly be one of the last remaining building of this category still inhabited by the same family for five centuries. In the old time the city of Granada was sourranded by this Caserías which, apart of having an agricultural aim were designed by its owners with wonderful gradens ponts, couryards and alleys imitating the famous Alhambra gardens.
The oldest references of the house kept in the family archives told us about the arab origin of the house. Then after the fall of Granada , at the late XVth century.the house was given to the family who stil keeps the property, turning it into an agricultural explotation which use has changed over the centuries, from the famous Granada silk to olive oil mills and later the growing of vinards during the XXth century.
The Casería de Milan is a two floor A listed building, with two indoor courtyards covered by vinards. The ground floor consist of a 30m2 living room, which gives access to the Chapel ( dating of 1764) and a 35 m2 dinning room for 12 people.On the right hind side of the living room one can find the library -.30 m2-and the fireplace. From the dinning room one would reach the 35m2 totally refurbished kitchen and three double bedrooms with three bathrooms. Going up thye stairs thye visitor will find an incredible 40m2 music room, with an incredible cola piano and incredibles views to the garden and the city of Granada. Turning right the stairs we can find the master bedroom formed by two separated double bedrooms,one of 35 m2- with and incredible stone fireplace- and a 16 m2 double bedroom and a bathroom. A total area of 350 m2 divided into five double bedrooms and four bathroom , three different living rooms, chapel, dinning room and kitchren. The house has recently been reformed and is equipped with central heating, hot water and air conditioning.
The house ius sourrounded by 6.000 m2 of gardens divided in different atmiosphere. In front of the main façade, one can enjoy the wonderful view of a 100 years old romantic gardens designed at the beginning of the century by the conservators of the Alhambra, with its fountains, the red carpa fish pont and the old Alberca, turning it today in a 20 metres long 10 metres wide swimming pool, encercled by a wooden swimming pasarela and a green grass solarium coronated by a four XiX century forged columns which makes a wonderful place for barbacue and chill out.
Over looking the romantic garden one can find the Albero garden which is a 1000m2 explanade with stone benches and a summer indoor terrace of 120m2.
The Northern façade overlook to the remaining of the XVIIth century oil mills and the Moreras trees ( the silk tree garden) with a fountain and a XiX century "mirador" all in an extension fo more thamn 2.500 m2.
The southern façade overlooks to the stone and alleys vegetable gardens with the 300 years old Almencinos trees crowned the whole house.
The Chapel was built in 1764,as it is reflected in a original painting , dedicated to the Virgen de la Blanca, after long prayers for the recovery of one of the member of the Milan family. The main altar was built in 1804 after another episode of family health problem and subsequent recovery. All this has developped an incredible devotion to this image by the family member still owning the Casería de Milan.
The furniture kept still in the house is the result of the history and the marriages of the differnt members of the family

Situated in the outskirts of Granada, in the village of Cájar six kilometres from the center of the city. The Casería de Milán is in between the northern boundaries of the Sierra Nevada natural park ( 200 metres) and the Vega - the fertile land - of Granada.
Driving into the Granada Ring - circunvalación- one should follows the indications to the Sierra Nevada Autovia and then take exit number 2 ( Cajar- La Zubia. Driving to Cajar and before entering the village follows direction to Bellavista and then ion your way up you will find Casería de Milan in Paseo de los Leñadoes n 60.
