Our visit was in mid-August. From the posting the tidy yard and grand old house look like a postcard. When you arrive it is just as the picture shows but there is so much more detail. Exquisite touches inside an out. The chandelier in our bathroom (Room #1), warm antique furniture, fully stocked modern kitchen, loads of old (like 1800's) cookbooks, clean comfy charming rooms. Outside there are flowers, a vegetable garden, a huge trellis with delicious Riesling grapes. I would say the character of this place is thoughtfully modern with a solid grand old soul. It hints at the mood of the wine country it now is surrounded by. Debbie, the host, has a heart of hospitality and it shows through the thoughtful extras that make this a shining example of why we love Airbnb. This house and yard has such an open grand old charm yet provides the modern amenities we so appreciate. We felt like we were just watching a good friend's historic house for the weekend. Located just a block away from Prosser's Vinter's Village it couldn't be more convenient. With 6 private rooms this would be fantastic for a group of friends too. Can't wait for our next excuse to head that way.
While we booked a private room through airbnb, we had no idea we would be staying at a beautiful historic home a stone's throw from the vitners village in Prosser. The house was beautiful, shabby chic with a gorgeous kitchen stocked which breakfast foods and coffee ready to be made. We ended up in the cottage which was a separate unit but after meeting the other guests we checked out their rooms as well and they were all equally nice. I really have no ideas for improvements, we loved it and are already planning a trip back in the fall.
Debbie's place was fantastic. The house was lovely, the gardening and maintenance that is put into the property really makes it stand out and makes you feel like you are in wine country. There is a large porch that wraps around the entire house, with ample seating, even if there are other guests. It seems like most of the rooms (except maybe #3) has their own bathroom and shower. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is really big, and is a good hangout spot if there are other guests to meet and mingle. The bedroom itself is really simple and clean. The food in the fridge (bagels, jam, butter, fruit) was much appreciated for breakfast. The kitchen is common space and everything in the fridge (AFAIK) is fair game. If you are out in prosser for wine country, I cannot recommend this location enough. It's extremely convenient, and there are a ton of wineries and tasting room within a 30 minute radius. There are 3-4 tasting rooms within walking distance of Debbie's place, including probably the best dinner option in Prosser - Wine O' Clock. It was great to be able to have a couple bottles between us at Wine O' Clock and then walk home less than a block away back to the house. FYI Rooms 1, 2, and 3 are on the first floor. I believe 4, 5, and 6 are upstairs. And I think 7 is a cottage separate from the main house. If you are traveling with a group, you should try to get rooms together on the same floor.
