Our family friendly home is a main door elevated ground level flat. We have 3 bedrooms - one master bedroom with a king size bed, one which can be made into a single, twin or double and one with bunkbeds (we also have available a double inflatable bed); a dining kitchen; living room with two sofas that open out into double beds; bathroom; large entrance hall and back door leading down to a shared garden. It has all conveniences. It was built in 1875 and is listed by Historic Scotland, and while it has been modernised to a high standard, many of the original features remain. There is wifi and a mac computer for use.
The property has well kept communal pleasure gardens to the front of the property, one of which has children's outdoor toys. We have friendly quiet neighbours.
Our home is situated within a quiet, picturesque crescent in the heart of Glasgow's West End. Our Crescent has two private pleasure gardens in addition to our own garden to the rear. The Crescent has a wonderfully inconspicuous upscale pub/restaurant within about a half a minute from our front door, and numerous other pubs and restaurants all within a five minute walk. Virtually all required amenities are within a five minute walk.
The Kelvin River, with its spectacularly green river walkway, is a minute away at the entrance to the Crescent. It is an excellent location for walking, jogging, and biking. It provides the scenic route to the Botanic Gardens and Byres Road, the central artery of the West End, with its local and specialty shops.
Kelvingrove Park, one of Glasgow's largest and greenest of parks, is within a ten minute walk, and sits beside the majestic buildings of the University of Glasgow. Through this park is the world famous Kelvingrove Museum, newly refurbished, and boasting some of Europe’s great art. The Hunterian Science Museum and Art Gallery, part of the University, are also with a ten minute walk.
The city centre is around fifteen minutes on foot, or a short underground journey, with the underground station located within a three minute walk from our door. The city centre is host to numerous tourist attractions and is a top UK shopping destination. Other key tourist attractions can be accessed from this underground circuit.
Glasgow is an excellent base from which to see all of Scotland. Our flat is a 5 minute drive from the main motorway (M8), or a 6 minute subway journey to the 2 main train stations with trains that will take you throughout the country, including connecting to ferry routes to islands (the island of Bute for example can be visited in a day trip).
Edinburgh is a 50-minute train trip from Glasgow, with trains running every 15 minutes.
