Sandwich is the museum town. You are ideally located in the cultural district of Sandwich Village, Cape Cod's oldest town, settled in 1637. It takes me 20 minutes to stroll to the center of the village where a collection of boutique shops, restaurants, pubs and ice cream shops await. In addition, the internationally acclaimed Heritage Museums and Gardens is literally footsteps from your door and visible from your bedroom window. Their 100 acres of manicured walks and pathways, antique auto museum, antique carousel and exhibits and concerts throughout the summer are the ideal place to experience the casual, friendly Americana for which Sandwich is famous. In addition, the wooded trails of Shawme State Forest are a 4 minute stroll from this lovely home.
There are a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops a short stroll or drive along Shawme Pond in the village center:
The Dan’l Webster Inn and Spa
The Brown Jug specialty food and wine shop
The historic Dunbar Tea House, a 1740 historic tea room
The Bistro at The Belfrey

PLEASE NOTE A THREE NIGHT MINIMUM ON HOLIDAY WEEKENDS.Jan.1, Jan16, Feb 20, May, 29, July, 4, Sept. 4, Oct.9, Nov. 9, Nov. 10 and 23, Dec. 25.
THIS LISTING DOES NOT INCLUDE BREAKFAST. We have learned that rather than attend a group breakfast within specified serving hours, our guests prefer a casual and personal start to the day with coffee and tea on their private deck followed by a visit to one of Sandwiche's superb breakfast spots. Our family moved "back East" from Southeast Kansas in 1983. We picked Sandwich for its beauty, quaintness, access to the sea and proximity to Boston. Raised in the Worcester, MA area, it was coming home for me.
I am semi-retired. I have reached the wonderful point in life where I am defined, not by my career but by who I am and what I enjoy doing. I am a children's author. This is especially meaningful to me having spent 30 years as an executive recruiter.
My most favorite moments are writing children's books, spending time with my 4 grandkids, family and friends, kayaking, hiking on and off Cape, and sailing in Cape Cod Bay and Barnstable Harbor in my cat boat. I lead private kayaking tours in a nearby estuary from Cape Cod Bay into Sandwich Village, including the 'Boardwalk', a Sandwich icon, connecting the village to the bay and recently recognized by National Geographic for its serenity and beauty.*
Please be advised that my cooking skills are less than ideal so it is in your best interest that you are on your own to enjoy a selection of wonderful breakfast/coffee venues in Sandwich. Good coffee, tea and fresh fruit are available in your room. Enjoy them in the comfort and privacy of your room or on your private garden deck as you watch the birds, chipmunks, wild turkeys and squirrels.*
l look forward to making your visit a pleasant memory and hopefully to your return.
* Are you a 'birder'? In addition to our group tours, we offer individual shore-bird tours through the marsh. Bring your camera or binoculars and get up close and personal with Great Blue Herron, Green Herron, Trumpet Swans, Mallards and Mergansers, Least Terns, Piping Plovers, Spotted Sandpipers, Osprey and Red Tailed Hawks and any number of other feathered inhabitants of the great marsh.
