I would like to begin my response with the essence of the success of the airbnb community, and that is a community of travelers built upon mutual trust. It is a social phenomena which surpasses the everyday in our lives today and brings us back to a community of human neighbors near and far.
In the case of hosting Katrina and Jay, I do not feel that is what I received in return for the use of my home. We hosted Katrina and Jay for 3 nights in our entire home, in our absence.
I have hosted for a period of time now with guests travelling to my property for work and personal family visits and travel across the globe. I have never left a disfavorable review of a guest stay. However, based upon the comments of Katrina, I will respond to our defense.
In summary, the assertions that my home was not clean, the amenities were not sufficient and the area has little to offer are falsehoods and a result of the guest not wanting to pay an additional fee for 2 additional guests above and beyond the reservation. The terms of the rental stay were disclosed in the listing clearly and Katrina knew what the additional fee was requested for. The uncalled for and disrespectful text conversation that ensued following this request was the first mention of any issues with their stay. Contrary to previous ratings & comments of Katrina and Jay, I did not find they were communicative nor tidy and I sensed a general disrespect for the use of my home especially by the way they moved decorative items about the house and left them there. I also sensed an arrogance as I had displaced a kitchen bottle cap and apparently, they found it and left it for me teetering off the handle of the teapot on the stove. The interactions I had with Katrina were via text message and became inappropriate, to which I suggested we communicate via the airbnb site exclusively. I have had one other guest, similar to the personality of this guest, leave a poor review and as I explained to Katrina, most guests enjoy our home and their stay.
Unfortunately, Katrina who shares in her profile that she is lucky enough to have 2 homes, one in Montana and another in Washington State, apparently did not want to pay the modest, additional fee for her sister and niece to spend the night, at my home which... if it were so distasteful, I don't understand why she would invite them to stay!
The house was cleaned professionally before their stay and then inspected by myself with a fresh arrangement of greens prior to their arrival. The house was spotless other than my missing kitchen bottle cap.
As the review process goes with Airbnb, at this moment, I expected this review and was hesitant to leave one in like, as my demeanor is not to disparage human beings needlessly, thus I chose to only respond.
