RENTAL BY THE WEEK THURSDAY TO THURSDAY. (For seasonal prices, see calendar): Our lovely villa is in a restored 12th-century farmhouse located in the hills of Tuscany, less than 20 km from Siena (to the south). It has two bedrooms, two modern bathrooms, washer, a fully equipped, large eat-in kitchen with granite countertops, refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, oven and microwave, a nicely furnished living room with wood-burning fireplace, a private courtyard and a shared pool and tennis court. The grounds look out on a small vineyard and surrounding woods where deer, foxes, pheasants and wild boar roam in the evening.
Two tiny villages, San Sano and Lecchi, are only 3-4 km down the road, and each has a wonderful restaurant and also a small market where staples and wine can be bought.
The villa is off the beaten path, thus a car is necessary, yet it is only fifteen or twenty minutes from the towns of Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Gaiole (shown in the photos), all great places to shop, eat, and explore. Florence (to the north), San Gimignano (to the east) and Arezzo (to the west) are an easy hour’s drive. Rome is a three-hour drive, however one can take a bus there from Siena.
Several of Chianti’s finest wineries are located nearby (see map) and are available for tours and wine tastings. An internationally known outdoor sculpture park is only 3 km from the villa, and from late April through the summer months, jazz concerts are held in its outdoor amphitheater in the evenings.
Apartment, two private courtyards, pool and tennis court.
The apartment has two bedrooms, but can sleep six people using the pull-out couch in the living room . We ask that guests treat our home and furnishings with respect. Guests must provide their own food, paper products and soap. Guests are expected to inform management of any breakage and pay replacement cost. The apartment is cleaned and fresh linens are supplied prior to guests' arrival. If towels are used for the pool, they must be returned to the apartment. Trash and garbage must be disposed of in the dumpster at the end of the gravel road upon leaving. Recycling is encouraged, using the bins in San Sano specified for glass, paper, and plastic.
