An 1860s farmhouse that has been adapted to a modern rural lifestyle, unfussy and romantic.
Located 35 minutes from the cultural hub of Hudson or skiing at Windham or Hunter.
Originally built as as a guest cottage for the larger farmhouses nearby, our home is located at the junction of O’Hara’s Corners, a beautiful farm settled in 1822. In the years following the subdivision of the farm, our house has undergone several quirky additions -- one of the many reasons it appealed to us. Serendipitously, we met the perfect people (alchemists, really), to renovate and furnish the house: Jersey Ice Cream Co. With their hand plastered walls, perfectly distressed wallpaper, exposed beams, whitewashed wood, handcrafted furniture, and vintage finds, they created a house that is both nostalgic and modern.
Surrounded by ponds, rolling hills, crumbling stone walls, Shipley Garden is a place to spread out, soak in the quiet, and revel in the starry night sky. No street lights, no tv, no gimmicks - just a beautiful place to recharge and unwind.
The living room has an open fireplace, a dining nook, and a place for projecting movies.
The bright, airy kitchen is well-equipped and large enough to accommodate several cooks. There is a long farm table in the dining room and a sideboard filled with all the linens, platters, and candles that you might need to for a special dinner. Make sure to fix yourself a cocktail and catch the sunset over the open fields in the sunroom - perfect.
There are two full baths, one upstairs and one downstairs. The upstairs bath has a tub and shower, the downstairs has a shower.
There are 4 bedrooms upstairs, though the two twin size bedrooms are linked together. The larger master bedroom has a queen size bed, and there is a full size bed in the fourth bedroom.
