A large guest room with private bath is located on the second floor of our 1849 Victorian house, which is the Calm in the Chaos Interfaith Center. There are two beds in the room - a twin and a queen. We are in the country - sheep in the barn, organic veggies in the garden - but are only minutes from the town of Brockport, a college town with every amenity imaginable. Twenty minutes from Rochester, where you can visit George Eastman's house, the Eastman School of Music, Memorial Art Gallery, the Museum and Science Center. And there is a festival of some sort nearly every weekend spring through fall in Rochester. Breakfast is included with your stay. Other meals may be arranged.
Please help yourself to our permanently-installed labyrinth in the east yard for walking meditation.
Because we are a center for contemplation and retreat, there are no TVs in the guest rooms. You are welcome to bring your ipad, laptop and such. We have Wifi in the house; password will be given once you arrive. We are on a main artery that runs from the NY State thruway right into Brockport. Brockport is a college town with restaurants, a great independent bookstore! and quaint shops. In the summer, you can grab a bike from the visitor's center and bike for miles on the towpath of the Erie Canal. There are docks to put in canoes as well. There is always a parking space for you in our driveway.
We are kid-friendly, but have no cribs. I can pop up a blow-up air bed on the floor for wee ones. We have a mini-Dachshund in the house, but not in the guest area. Two Shetland sheep and five chickens in the barn will surely want you to feed them! Your small (under 20-pounds) pooch is welcome as well. Please ask for the special doggie contract.

I will make sure you have a yummy breakfast to start your day.
We generally don't wear shoes in our home, but lightning will not strike if you desire to keep yours on. Smoking is not allowed on the property. Breakfast is served when you need it, anytime before 9 am. Other than that, enjoy Gingerbread Manor!

I am a professional musician, teaching Voice and Piano and directing a semi-professional children's choir. Schedule a lesson while you're here! Gardening and fiber arts make me happy. Because this is a "real" B&B, I will create a breakfast for you, no matter what your tastes - vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, lactose-intolerant, just name it! And when my calendar says "blocked" on dates, it just means I have guests not booked through airbnb. The word "blocked" seems so negative; it sounds as though I am personally saying 'no' to you. And I want to meet you!
My favorite destination so far has been Iceland, although I would move to Prince Edward Island in a heartbeat as well. I guess I'm drawn to cold climates.
Life here is simple, with rocking chairs on the front porch, a loving cat to scritch behind the ears and a lot of dog in an 8-pound miniature Dachshund. Maisy and Fae are the Shetland sheep in the barn. Your breakfast eggs will be fresh from the hen house down the road. All of the animals love attention, but none are allowed in the upstairs guest areas. I speak and understand enough French to get along.
I have been told by several guests who were intuitive, psychic or otherwise spiritually connected, that there is a lot of good energy at Gingerbread Manor. That's all fine with me, as I am an avid reader of faith path journeys and alternative healing methods and am an Ordained Interfaith Clergy.
Please feel free to roam the grounds and play the 1931 upright in the living room!
When my guests came down to breakfast just this morning, they said, "It's like staying with a relative... one that you like!" I can't think of a nicer compliment; I'm so happy they felt at ease, and I hope you will too.
