Stay at the heart of the Asian side where the old Istanbul lives on: slow pace, teahouses, antique stores and bazaar flair. My flat has a rooftop terrace with a panoramic Bosporus view. You can get anywhere on the European side in less than half hour
I live in a spacious two-storey flat located on the fifth floor of an apartment building. Sometimes I live alone, sometimes with my friend.
The flat receives a lot of light and a fresh Bosporus breeze at all times, carrying the prayer call and the cries of the seagulls inside.
All the rooms have wooden parquet and some of them have a beautiful wooden ceiling (including your room!).
We are the highest house in the neighborhood. There is a wonderful Bosphorus panorama from the kitchen, the living room, the studio and - definitely the flat's highlight - from the spacious terrace.
You will have a room for yourself and a private bathroom with a hot shower - both of them in a detached area upstairs. The studio, the kitchen and the living room are common areas and can be used by my guests.

I will provide you with city and transportation maps at my place. I'd be happy to help you plan your Istanbul itinerary and give you some insider tips so that you can make the most of your stay! How much time we can spend together will depend on my schedule. But I will try my best to welcome you as a friend, not just as a guest.
Smoking is only allowed on the terrace.
Important note: This is not a party flat! There are some families and elderly neighbors living in the same house. If you are planning to go clubbing or drink in bars deep into the night, this is definitely not your choice! It is important to be quiet and respectful on the stairway and not make any noise in the flat, especially at late hours.
I am German of origin, but Eastern at heart. I fell in love with Istanbul when I first visited the city in 2010. After going back and forth between Germany and Turkey for almost three years, I finally settled in Istanbul in spring 2015.
I am a freelance journalist and currently study a Masters degree in Istanbul. My interest are in Islamic culture and history, Persian poetry and spiritual traditions. I love and play music, violin, guitar, tar and setar.
